Mark June is one of the best Nebraska trappers I know and he says the same thing about layered scents. It really is better to have multiple odors in a bait to appeal to every possible craving for coyotes. I know a lot of guys try to make bait but I think it pays to make or buy quality bait it you want to catch the numbers. Great video love how you guys explain the science behind bait and what makes it work.
Everyone likes to over complicate bait and act like there is some secret sauce for coyotes..... I suppose everyone looking to make a dime because fur prices are terrible. Back when I trapped 40 years ago there was very few baits on the market. We all made our own baits. Lures are different IMO and is where I'd spend my money on. Grind up deer, chicken, pork, rabbit, squirrel, rats, fish, gophers, road kill, whatever you have access to, taint it for a few weeks. Stop the taint with pickling salt, then go to fav fast food restaurant,. Especially breakfast joints like IHOP, and ask them for their grease waste and use that to add fatty grease to your bait. or collect your own as you make breakfast throughout the year. Add a little skunk, beaver castor, honey, blue cheese dressing or whatever you have access to ... Or not doesn't really matter. Then mix in some glycerine. Bam you're done. Keep good records of what works, don't work and then keep making it. A very simple bait is to grind up chicken or beef, taint it a few weeks but don't rot it, salt it (or use sodium benzoate) add in some blue cheese dressing and then some glycerin. If you can, add a little skunk to it to help it carry. It really can be that simple. Use a good gland or call lure and that is all you need to catch coyotes.
What is your recipe you used? If you don’t mind letting your secret out....I want to make a bait using bobcat meat, a beaver meat bait and a deer meat bait. All separate. Would like to make all bobcat meat bait, but that meat is harder to come by. Would truly appreciate any and all help you can give. God bless
Well ide like you to come to Minnesota and help me catch coyotes it seams to me around here they would rather catch there own food my uncle was a good trapper for years and had very little success on foot holds for coyotes and ive been after them since october and no coyotes but everything else you think your up for the challenge

Hi .. I was just curious if using store bought beef fat would be effective as a natural fat ,like skunk or racoon fat..
What’s the white powder you use for preservers? I seen salt but there looked like something else, thanks.
Sodium benzonate
Will fresh beaver fat work in my fresh or lightly tainted bait for my fat acid smell or do I need skunk fat.
Thanks for your videos and information.
I have the same question. Will beaver fat work. Thanks

My buddies back east always used roadkill, seemed to work fairly well, you think that would work alright, or should I invest in other things?
Do more trapping videos please.
