I’m so so happy I’ve been along your money journey, I finally opened a savings account with Ally and stoked to watch all my savings and debt-payoff funnel in the new year. Cheers to a prosperous year for everyone! 🎉
Do you think you might be experiencing burn out with sticking to a budget over the last few years? I know I did after two years of committing to saving a certain amount every year, and whilst I felt a certain 'high' once payday hit and I was closer to achieving my financial goals, I had been too restrictive and ended up falling sideways, especially after COVID. There were at least two separate years where I just did not make a dent to increasing my savings from the previous year and had somehow spent all my monthly incomes during those two years. I don't think the spending was on anything important, most likely 80% was on on lunch, skincare products and subscriptions I didn't even realise I had. It took a while for me to get back into saving and reaching financial goals, even years later. I am thankful that I have reached a deposit goal this year and will focus on making regular investments and increasing my emergency fund 😊
It's very interesting this year. People are telling me they got me a gift. I didn't get gifts for adults...only kids. I didn't budget for adults. It's wild!
In 2024 I still listed down my spending but I didn't really budget.. I think having more than enough financial cushion made me lazy in my investing goals and just maintained what I already have instead of increase it. Next year I want to spend less, especially when I'm traveling and shopping, and put that money towards investing and my retirement and memorial plan.
I achieved a positive net worth in 2024. This is a huge accomplishment for me since I graduated with over $100k in student loan debt 🎉
That is HUGE congratulations

I really need this. I just put myself into debt again because of the holiday when I was just starting to really pay my debt down. 😣
