1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.f4? Nxe4 or 4.Nf3?! Nxe4 or 4.d3 Na5.
Don’t like f4 in this set up, the second leads to a fork.
d3 and Na5 is good for white with Bb3, knight takes, axb3.
4.d3 Na5 5.Bb3 Nxb3 6.axb3 d5 opens the game for the pair of bishops. It's at least equal for Black.
Yes, in this case black equalised the game - especially nf3, dxe4 and Nxe5.
The point of the Vienna (in my case) is to get out of the opening in a balanced game with little theory.
Are there openings with more theory which capitalise a bit more and keep the advantage for white? Of course, they are as “easy” as the Vienna while still maintain some venom? Not sure.
There’s also a variation of the Vienna with g3 which is played at a slight higher level worth considering but haven’t played it that much.
Equalized or more.
My point however is that you omitted this important variation (and a few more) in your video and hence did not provide all the info necessary to play the Vienna with success. Your treatment is inadequate.
Of course there is a simple way to disprove my point: a follow up.
