ABOUT I DREAM OF JEANNIE: Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman star in this classic ‘60s comedy about a genie and her master. When astronaut Tony Nelson is forced to crash-land on a remote Pacific island, he finds a strange bottle that's washed ashore. When he opens it, out pops a genie named Jeannie. Not only does she get him back to civilization safely, she also smuggles herself aboard the rescue plane. Jeannie becomes Tony's constant companion. It's true, @@davidgiles4681 ...she always maintained an air of innocence that I think came at least ihn part from Eden herself. Not that she hadn't played alluring sirens before that. She had. But if you listen to her speak, she always appears to have enjoyed the Jeannie role far more.

So for that last shot they had to stand still while the show crew drove an entire Rolls-Royce on the set so that it could be edited in as if it just appeared 😳 dang
The also had to move at least two living room type chairs off the set too.
They do that a lot (stand still) including every time Jeannie or someone changes their clothes in front of the camera. The Rolls Royce is easy (cause you can drive it) compared to something that has a mind of its own like a lion or elephant.
But yes I am very very impressed with all their special effects (giant life size and to scale and colour models for when Jeannie is shrinkers is a lot of work for just a few seconds of screen time) and this is just one reason why its orders of magnitudes better then Bewitched, which is just a sexist domestic sitcom with bits of over the top silly drama (Dr Bombay is just lame) and basic "magic" thrown in.

When I first saw this episode, I thought Tony's starting to sound like Darrin on "Bewitched"" (no magic, live on my income...)
Agreed. It was one of the reasons why IDOJ is better than Bewitched until this part (until they got married, Jeannie was always free to do whatever, she never actually stayed at home the whole day and really is the one being the master by calling the shots and getting Tony into trouble). But it was probably unavoidable since the tv channel people demanded they get married even though the whole cast was against it.
