To understand present-day China, its politics, society, and culture in general, we have to go back to the beginnings of the Chinese civilization.
Dynasties will change, people will be killed and born, art made and destroyed, but the Chinese civilization will prevail, rising from humble beginnings to an empire that at some points outshined any other in the world at that time. And yet it won’t be only a tale of kings and queens, emperors and rulers. Of palaces and forts, of swords and shields.

It's not really the leftist ideology that is bothering people so much. Corruption, totalitarism and lack of true democracy (meaning that the most important decisions are made behind the scenes by a small exclusive circle of people) are the main sources of complain for most Chinese. The leftist ideas of societal (meaning that they are organized by the government) support systems etc. are far less implemented in China than they are e.g. in Northern Europe.

I WAS GIVEN A GREAT BOOK FROM TIME LIFE "THE COOKING OF CHINA" WHICH HAS MANY OF THOSE SCROLL PAINTINGS YOU SHOW HERE. I'D LOVE TO SEE A VIDEO ON THE CULTIVATION OF RICE IN ANCIENT TIMES AS THE SCROLL IS IN THIS BOOK.

Rice didn't appear until the Han dynasty. Millet and barley were northern China's main food crop. Their writing is based on Egyptain hieroglyphics.

The extra commentary and opinion is ruining this video. Just stick to the facts. It is not a fact that humans lived there 200,000 years ago. What did they do for 190,000 years. Why wasn't the population billions of people?

The intro was really, really appalling. And decidedly anti-China propaganda.
" In recent years, China has been a land of controversies."
Really?? I think it was the West who manufactured and stirred up these so-called controversies to prevent China from overtaking them in terms of progress. And videos like these lap up these propagandas and amplify them.
"..leftist ideology which does not sit well with a lot of people. "
LMAO. Just some Americans and some whites who are are hell-bent on stopping the progress of China. And this is translated as " a lot of people".
Needless to say, I didn't watch this video to the end.

People are not bacteria, they need to eat, and it is a very big problem. Without advanced agricultural technology and a well-developed logistics network, how can we feed so many people?
Do you know when the wheelbarrow was invented, and how about water irrigation technology?
The population could only grow if there was a technological revolution
In fact, in ancient China, many regime changes occurred because the population grew to its limit and then there was a famine caused by floods or droughts. It was not uncommon for speculators to take advantage of the opportunity to seize power.
