When I play the guitar I escape from the world. Like a meditation therapy, in those moments my mind and soul rest. They make me be better. Mister Tim, from Spain thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.
This is SUCH an important lesson for me. Thank you kindly, Tim! (I played 29 years and then spine injury. I've been studying jazz the past several years... without touching the guitar. Ted was always my favorite player to watch on TH-cam when his videos were first released YEARS ago. My beloved friend Steve Vai told me to study CHORD CHEMISTRY... and I have been since 2010.
I'm grateful for this lesson.
PS I'm female. Been playing since '77. Lots of teachers always say "guys", but there have been many naturally talented females playing forever. [I once got free equipment from BBE because their advertising was only aimed at men. Hahaha! That was over 15 yrs ago. I guess it pays to speak up.)
I love your playing and teaching style. I was not surprised to find out you studied with Ted; you've dons him proud, that's for sure!!

Great job man! I wish i would have you as teacher. U nailed down exactly what was Ted's intention: write something to start with and make it useful for your own puropose. I think i do like from Ted is the ability to play indipently the bass line and make the melody work swiflty through the voicings...so naturally! i'm working on it and i assure you guys it will take a lot of time! and i'm not sure i'm gonna make it ;)

you're right about the name since that particular voicing contains neither a C or and F#. it also could be called Emin11b5,Gmin6/9,Bbmaj7#11, and perhaps a few more, so I suppose one must make a value judgment and call it something that makes sense in the context it appears in. Personally I think of both C7 and F#7 simultaneously, then I don't have to worry too much about what to call it. Thanks for watching and sharing your ideas.
