I think it would be so funny if it turns out that Zen was being 100% serious with Reinhardt about what he did before the Awakening, but he's so casual about it that no one believes him.
Zenyatta is canonically 20 years old, so it’s probably fake

@@jubusch I think those 20 years count since his awakening, so Zen was probably built before that, but not as acompletly autonomous enity.
There’s actually quite a few of these lines, one where he says he was a barista as well as driving a tractor and being a life guard

At this point i am certain the "Iris" was just the equivalent of drugs for the omnics. Once the first omnic discovered it, she gave her life (supposedly) and shared it with everyone else. Making every omnic be high, and apparently conscious and awaken.

There's an interaction Zen has with Sigma which has MASSIVE lore implications where Sigma asks him how he floats, and Zen responds that it's the power of the Iris. Sigma then says "Ah, the Iris! Of course! We've met."

I love how Zen is keeping everyone in the dark about how he and the other monks work. His healing? Idk, do some more research. Him staying calm? Have you tried breathing?
Lol, he reminds me of my old thesis supervisor back in uni. The "not yet understanding"/more research part hit especially close to home. You would walk out even more confused than before.

I think he's trying to add lessons to his responses, in a sense - he doesn't breathe, but genji does,so it's advice for him.
He knows Angela can't accept magic, so spurs her curiosity with the idea of unknown science to discover.
He know torbjorn wouldn't like the answer, so he doesn't give one, and suggests to torbjorn to be okay with not knowing.

honestly, i think Zen's taken the stance of 'better to be the warrior in a garden, than a gardener in a war.'
There is an interaction Zen has with Orisa which I think is worth mentioning:
Orisa: Zenyatta do you think there will always be evil in the world?
Zen: I'm afraid as long is there is free will there will always be evil Orisa.
Orisa: But isn't taking away free will in itself evil?
Zen: Quite the puzzle, isn't it?
I was so confused what you meant by "there will always be evil orisa" like... An evil version of orisa. Maybe add a comma?

Zenyatta continues to be one of my favorite video game characters.
There's an interaction with Zenyatta and Soldier 76 where Soldier calls Zen a pacifist and Zen basically tells him he's a fool for assuming.
We need more omnic heroes in the roster.

Wrecking Ball seems a lot more...I don't know, colder with his interactions? I hope he gets integrated into the story in some way so that we can learn more about him. We now know he holds a grudge against Winston for being left behind on the Horizon Lunar Colony, so who knows?
Junkertown also was likely a strong influence on his character, in all the senses of the word. Could be another explanation for his terseness.
Probably doesn't help that everybody just sees him as a hamster in a ball, too. Even in Overwatch 1, we get Sombra's "Now I'm supposed to work with a giant rat?" and Tracer's "I guess they'll let anyone be a pilot these days!" Then again, maybe the time jump between Overwatch 1 and 2 has hardened his personality a bit, who knows?
In his trailer, the scientist said that hammond had impressive adaptability. It’s why he is so cold. When you live in junkertown, you kinda have to be.
@@cristodemonte1690 I don’t think he hates Omnics particularly, since he has a voice line with Ashe where he considers making BOB a new chassis.
Probably he just gets annoyed at things like Junkrat being a limpet, people treating him as just a hamster after he already proved himself as Wrecking Ball, etc.

I find it hilarious that not even Zen knows how his healing works. I just want a conversation between healers discussing how their respective heals work.
Zenyatta may be a monk, but he aint a pacifist.
Zenyatta's healing is based around the idea of "feeling better emotionally", that's why it heals only just a little, it's not a real medicine, but more of a "mood healing".
Pretty much like Lucio's Music and Brigitte inspiring her allies when fighting.

I love Zenyatta. Even if the voice lines only reveal an enigma, it's great to see him and his abilities being more acknowledged.

He’s not joking about focusing on his breathing. In meditation the goal of clearing your mind and pushing away distracting thoughts is achieved by focusing on breathing in and out, and nothing more. Of course it’s really boring to just sit in place and think about breathing so random thoughts like what you’ll have for dinner or your favorite tv show will pop up a lot. But it’s the act of pushing those thoughts and all other distractions away that helps build this focus on demand, and it gets easier to meditate and concentrate on one thing besides breathing as well.
Another bonus for me is that I’ve conditioned myself to enter a calm mindset while deep breathing, so whenever I get upset or angry if I take one deep breath and notice it I’m immediately in a better place mentally and don’t feel as upset anymore.
I’d recommend everyone give mediation a try. Go for 5 minutes everyday and work your way up to 20 minutes everyday. Or don’t, it’s whatever makes you happy.

I think I understand how his tranquility works. It’s kinda like ultra instinct from Dragon ball he sorta just taps into nothingness. I believe when he says he focuses on his breathing sorta means he focuses on nothing.
I think he was just telling a joke and it flew right over Genji’s head. I wouldn’t expect a monk to crack jokes either.
Still my all time favorite interaction is between zen and sombra, it goes from funny and fun to real deep:
Sombra: Bet you omnics are great gamblers.

Zenyatta: True. It also makes us great teachers, for we can easily hide our disappointment.

My theory on Zens mysterious past: Zenyatta was the omnics greatest weapon created. He was supposed to be a hivemind of human souls lost during the war put into an omnic so they could understand human emotion to combat it. but all it did was create an all powerful life giving omnic who preached of peace and forgiveness to both sides. But you can see from his dark side/orb and mischievous attitude sometimes that he was supposed to be the harbinger of death the one fated to crush humanities hope once and for all.
Did Blizzard just make an adult joke? Because there's one type of ball I know Hammond wouldn't want to talk about.
