Kasama sa mission ng SB19 yung pag-promote ng Filipino culture, including values. Many people have been touched by this song kahit anong lahi. This is something distinct sa Mahalima. That's why we're rooting for them.

Mapa is now a classic song that would last for generations.Ken used to get emotional with this song everytime thwy sing he really feels it. I read somewhere his Lola, who ia close to him, passed away at that time they were recording Mapa. Then his grandpa followed the same year. In an interview before he said maybe he was still mourning amd have not recovered yet. He was crying as he was not given that chance to give back.
Josh was given that part that talks about the father, who in real life never met him. So Pablo spwcifically gave that part to Josh. This song is part of their life journey too and many cpuld with their own story.

MaPa is double entendre. While the song is a tearjerker, it is also a celebration of nanay at tatay. And I cried a lot too, both parents I suppose are happy in eternity. The best thing in the First Take is that we only hear the vocals, with mic and great tweak on the instrumentals and beat, no special effects, stripped down, raw, crisp. Superb. One of the things I love about the songs released by SB19 is its relevance and inspiring message. They just don't throw any lyrics into a song, but you can tell it's very well thought of and from the heart. Their voices are their instruments and weapon. Their clever lyricism pierces thru your heart and their vocals envelop and hug you, giving comfort (such as Mapa). I noticed that they don't go with the trend, but they imprint their own mark in the music industry consistent to their core values, identity and journey even if it means going against the grain. My heart's prayer for them is to leave a long-lasting impact and legacy in OPM and in the world.

Thank you for this reaction video. Someone commented that LATARATARA is the lullaby ng mom ni PABLO when he was young. Stell said this was done during the pandemic, when they were doing laundry Pablo asked them what do you want to say to your parents and that is how MAPA was born. This is why I love these boys even more, they are respectful and humble, love this song coz they pay tribute to parents, I cried when Josh sang the Papa part considering his dad left them when he was very young, in one of their interviews Josh said that he didn’t see his dad anymore when he left them then one of his dad’s siblings introduced himself to Josh and told him that his dad is mentally ill! -Binigay ni Pablo yung tatay na line kay Josh kasi lumaki syang never nakilala ang papa nya at sabi ni Pablo na wala man syang tatay, "Pinagtibay ka nun kaya malakas ka ngayon."

Yay! Inaabangan ko tlga reaction mo sa Lyric Video and First Take Mapa... Ginawa nila to while doing their laundry. Tinanong ni Pablo sila Stell kung ano yung gusto nalang sabihin sa parents nila. Nasa tour sila nun that’s why miss nila parents and family nila.

the "lataratara", pablo explained na yun daw yung lullaby ng lola nya sa knila nung bata pa sila grabe, genius tlga, pero the word plays are, Ma and Pa which is mama and papa and ofcourse the word mapa itself as map. Ma is "Mata" and Pa is "Paa" which ae in the pre-choruses. grabe tlga sila, their so organic and lahat ng fans ay sobrang thankful sa mga buhay nila

Lataratara also means grandma's rest, coz that is the lullaby Pablo's grandma uses to sing to them growing up. Such a heartfelt and touching song indeed. ❤️🥹

Josh nevr had the chance to meet his dad.. And him singing “PAPA NAAALALA MO PA BA…. “ lines always makes me cry..
and nt sure if alam mo na, but Ken grew up with the care of his grandparents bec his parents were working abroad… so ung grandparents nya tlga ung ngsrve as MAMA and PAPA nya. and when they were recording MAPA, Ken rcvd a message na nmtay daw LOLA nya :( 😭😭

Mapa was written during their early days while they were touring a lot and been away from home for a long time. While doing the laundry, Pablo asked Stell what they wanted to tell their parents. Stell said that he missed home coz there are things (like chores) that when at home he doesn't need to do coz his parents do it for him. That's where the idea came from.
Mapa is actually a word play for
Mama and Papa
Mata sa langit Paa sa lupa
Mapa actually referring to the actual Map
It's an ode to our parents for their sacrifices. Honoring them with their success, while they set their dreams high (mata sa langit) they are kept grounded (paa sa lupa). Their parents also serve as their compass and direction (like a map).
Lataratara is actually a lullaby sang to Paulo when he was young.
PS. Mapa has been translated and sang in multiple languages around the world. Some would even say it is the counterpart of Anak in this generation.
