For someone whose so used to this kind of rock music, I would recommend Caifanes/Jaguares (same thing), which I know people have recommended before, but I would recommend it because the singer has a more prominent voice. Non-rock, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, he's more traditional but his life is interesting..alcohol/love/betrayal it is no wonder he wrote so many great songs (1,000 in his life) that people record to this day, "Ella" or "La Vida No Vale Nada". Luis Miguel did an album covering his songs and received a Grammy for it...These of course are drinking songs lol If you want something upbeat you already know to listen to Selena.

Hi Frank, regarding Zoe and Hello Seahorse vocalists (León Larregui and Denise Gutiérrez respectively) They are not recognized for having great voices, their songs are good musically speaking I think in the case of Hello Seahorse maybe they mix rock with other rythms using instruments that maybe not as common in rock bands but Denis again not a super great voice, pleasant, sweet, but not superb so if you want to react to them good but knowing that you are not going to find a great vocalist performance.
