Uri (J&K), Mar 10 (ANI): The Para Forces unit is a special operations unit of the Indian Army. Also known as Elite Forces, it is among the oldest airborne units in the world. Their role involves occupying large areas behind enemy lines they operate in small assault teams, which work individually behind enemy lines. These forces are trained to face inclement weather, deep snow, and all kinds of rescue operations. The unit specializes in various roles including hostage rescue, counter-terrorism, unconventional warfare, special reconnaissance, foreign internal defence, counter-proliferation, counter-insurgency. "These are specialised troops with very few numbers. They are deployed wherever the Indian Army is there for special task. Out here it is mainly also for ceasefire violations. Fortunately there will now be a ceasefire, so we are happy. But we have to be ready in case there is any violations by the enemy, we are always ready to respond to it," said Col Karan Bhatia, Commanding officer Para. (NS)

I think defence ministry should invest in better gears for our special forces they are still very basic and doesn't even compare with other Western special forces use. They are our pride so we should take care of there lives. I hope defence ministry will procure the latest state of the art equipments and gears for our armed forces which are made in india. I know there is a budget crunch going on in the armed forces, but we need to increase our budget to 3% of our GDP. So that our forces modernisation plan can carry on swiftly.

This is not bsf . This is para sf of Indian army. They are always equipped with modern weapons and all type of other instruments. This is highly specialized special force of india. And in kashmir bullet proof jacket is provided to every soldier deployed in combat areas .
