At that time ? , Mate they are still the worlds most popular group 50 years later never mind at that time, out selling and more than any other group in the world including the beatles.
One of MY's best sketches. He really nailed the Larry Grayson impression and ABBA play along with the gags so well. Fifty years since they won Eurovision. Amazing.
Never seen this before but it came up due to the sad passing of Mike. He nails the impression but ye Gods the ABBA girls are beyond stunning. Indeed, the whole group is so Swedish, calm and playing along with the sketch but at no time trying to be funnier or smarter than Yarwood. That is so wonderful as don't forget at this time ABBA ruled the world.
They ruled the World partly because they knew a great 'business' opportunity when they saw one, as this was: showng their human face in front of millions of viewers.
I love Mike nearly laughing, then saying I can't do it if you make me laugh. Brilliant. Doesn't Agnetha look divine here? Those were the days when an impressionist like Mike Yarwood could get the worlds biggest pop band on his show to perform. Magic.
@@luanunes14 Good point, shame she was a heavy smoker otherwise she would have been perfect. I get the impression ABBA have no idea what's going on with Yarwood's Larry Grayson impression.
OMG ! How stunning looking were ABBA, (especially the GIRLS) I loved Larry Grayson growing up, also loved The Generation Game, first with Bruce Forsyth, then with Larry! Loved Isla, and I also loved Mike Yarwood at the time he was so talented and funny, he was at the peak of his powers here and this is hilarious! dx
As a kid i watched this and loved it, and love it now, Mike Yarwood and Janet Brown nailed Lal and Isla St Clair. Oh my days I blessed as child to have these legends as my television entertainment. How they got ABBA to agree to this I don't know but its ABBA gold. :)
Not just a quick joke and gone, 6 whole minutes of this sketch, amazing! Mike has Larry spot on, so funny. Aren’t ABBA good too, making jokes and looking like they enjoyed this break from the usual. I bought a Mije Yarwood dvd set a while back and it had me in tears laughing, unless you actually watch his shows you forget just how great an entertainer he was.
Superb by mike,he was way way ahead of his time as if he was around today doing these kind of quality impressions he would be getting mllions a show just pure class and so Larry grayson its like looking and hearing the real thing.
THIS IS HILARIOUS!! I LOVE IT!! I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE..I'D LOVE TO SEE THE ENTIRE SHOW IF THERE MORE INTERACTIONS WITH THEM!! ABBA FOREVER!! 💖💖💖💖
One of ABBA's best songs is Thankyou for the Music, Agnetha's voice is angelic, this song really spoke to me as a kid, 'Im nothing special in fact I'm a bit of a bore', I was very self aware at such a young age.
The show host felt in love of Frida (who wouldn't? ... I'm don't blame him) but it was so obvious but i completly undertand bc she's is a GODDESS with an speaking voice so sweet and warm and she's is the most funniest person too 💕the definition of PERFECTION ✨😍
O grupo ABBA é sem dúvida a maior e melhor banda de todos os tempos, por isso um sucesso que não acabou nos anos 80, mais vai permanecer para todas as gerações....
I'm not sure what Larry thought seeing this. It was clearly in his lifetime and (as such) presumably met his approval. Mike Yarwood has captured everything except the genuine warmth and generosity of the real Larry Grayson. He was a truly unique entertainer who could made us laugh about everyday issues and events. Larry cared about the contestants who appeared on the show. He was sensitive and understanding of people who had never seen a TV studio and helped them to feel at ease!
All those people that have such to say about how he didn’t ‘quite nail’ the people he was trying to imitate, do better if you can. They go into so much detail about how this was wrong and that was wrong. If you didn’t like it, why did you bother listening, just to criticise. ABBA seemed quite happy. No pleasing some people. Just happy to sit on the sidelines and criticise
Abba were massive at that time probably one of the biggest acts and playing recording promoting their music and to get them on prime time was a coup! Generation game was big plus Mike Yarwood was at the top of his game! Abba were great sports and got the British humour too !
Yes I noticed that too lol. I also noticed that when he looked Frida over and said to her she could wear blue, Benny put his hand around her waist. You can see it when she pokes Mike's shoulders. Little Jealous? Lol.
I remember Mike Yarwood being very popular in the day. He nailed some impressions and missed others by a mile. This one isn't perfect but still gets laughs as being more a charicature of Larry than spot on impression. It's like everything else, one person inspires and others come along after who are much better. That's as it should be. I remember seeing Bert Weedon on 'This is Your Life'. He was okay in his day, but the guitar gods he influenced who appeared on that show was incredible. I loved Yarwood at the time but he's not as good as the ones who followed. But they regard him as the 'guvnor' anyway.
This isn’t the Generation Game. It’s The Mike Yarwood Show. Mike Yarwood was impersonating Larry Grayson, who actually hosted a game show called The Generation Game.
I think first half of ABBA (72-77) seemed all was Anni-Frid Benny Bjorn Agnetha, too include Waterloo album cover art and ABBA The Movie (77) as the movie credits spelled out ABBA as: Anni-Frid Lyngstad Benny Andersson Bjorn Ulvaes Agnetha Faltskog Then after they became established the order was not emphasized either way.
It's so sad to see Björn and Agnetha here because every though they look happy, they separated in Christmas Day, within days of this interview. Björn then met his new girlfriend Lena on New Year's Eve.
Yeah, a typical woman's whining.... can't have it both ways, make good money and take care of the kids too... that's why they have nannies/baby sitters as Bjorn suggested. Could have worked hard for a few more years and enjoy the fruits of her labor for the rest of her life... but no "Let's break up the group cuz I can't take it anymore!" attitude. Sad!
Bill A yeah, blame it on the woman, even tho the whole group were having problems outside the group as well as inside. typical male attitude, getting bitter about something and throwing the blame on the women.
The thing with Mike Yarwood was his voice impersonations were not that great but his facial expressions mannerisms and persona impressions were brilliant
I watched this for about 4 mins before I realised it wasn't Larry Grayson, but Mike Yarwood, and that it wasn't how I remember Isla St Clair, who seemed to be looking more like Cilla Black. I don't remember this episode either.
R. I. P. Mike Yarwood, this was a brilliant sketch, one of my favourites
RIP Mike. What a fantastic send up of Larry Grayson. Pretty much perfect from the best impressionist ever.
Ditto.
It's 2023 and I am absolutely crying at this!! Brilliant!
ты заткнись!!!! 🖕🖕🖕
His Larry Gayson impression is amazing & Hilarious- Forgotten how talented Mike Yarwood was - R.I.P. thanks for the laughs ❤
A comic genius and this sketch is absolutely brilliant. Rest in peace sir.
God bless you Mike, thank you for all the laughs. Best of your kind.😢
Mike Yarwood was spot on with Larrys mannerisms...just brilliant 😂😂
Close to a MASTERPIECE this sketch...Bolstered by The World's most popular group at that time.
Totally agree
At that time ? , Mate they are still the worlds most popular group 50 years later never mind at that time, out selling and more than any other group in the world including the beatles.
One of MY's best sketches. He really nailed the Larry Grayson impression and ABBA play along with the gags so well. Fifty years since they won Eurovision. Amazing.
RIP Mike Yarwood, a TV icon and one of the best impressionists out there from the 1970s.
I could watch this over and over again, sadly missed Mike :-(
Never seen this before but it came up due to the sad passing of Mike. He nails the impression but ye Gods the ABBA girls are beyond stunning. Frida's a total natural in front of the camera and could have been an actress or comedian. Very funny. And yes lovely auburn hair Frida!
Like Gloria Swanson!
@@johnporcella2375😂
Just the most brilliantly executed piece...and Abba also joined in superbly.
I love Mike nearly laughing, then saying I can't do it if you make me laugh. Brilliant. Doesn't Agnetha look divine here? Those were the days when an impressionist like Mike Yarwood could get the worlds biggest pop band on his show to perform. Magic.
Doesn't Agnetha look divine all the time!

...and Frida too who was my favourite.
Lol agnetha and frida feeling him up and flirting 😂😂😂😂😂 that killed me
Mike Yarwood was more like Larry than Larry was. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Big fan of Larry Grayson. Very funny bloke.
Me too. Those were the days.
Exactly I actually preferred him😄 and Anni saying "shut that door" so sexy
Agneta: Look at the muck in here!
I had never seen Benny so funny and the other ABBA members so at ease. Thnaks for posting it.
Watched this many time the funniest thing mike yarwood has done
oh what a gay day lol
This was absolutely fabulous and should have gone on for hours! I just loved it....from USA
OMG ! How stunning looking were ABBA, (especially the GIRLS) I loved Larry Grayson growing up, also loved The Generation Game, first with Bruce Forsyth, then with Larry! Loved Isla, and I also loved Mike Yarwood at the time he was so talented and funny, he was at the peak of his powers here and this is hilarious! dx
Rest in peace Mike fantastic!!
Mike Yarwood he was fantastic the British public loved him and he's still going think he's 81 now god bless you Mike
No one should ever forget how good Mike Yarwood was... His prince Charles was just unbelievable. RIP.
As a kid i watched this and loved it, and love it now, Mike Yarwood and Janet Brown nailed Lal and Isla St Clair. Oh my days I blessed as child to have these legends as my television entertainment. How they got ABBA to agree to this I don't know but its ABBA gold. :)
They guested on a lot of shows back in the day. Crackerjack springs to mind and the Kenny Everett show where they didn't even sing

Loved Mike Yarwood as kids!
4:03. The come on to Benny was fantastic, and Benny’s blushing reaction. 😅😳😅

Search for the 1978 Christmas edition of The Mike Yarwoid Show
Me and my late mum Maisie were on that very stage with Larry and Isla in 1978.
Brilliant Mike Yarwood and Brilliant ABBA.
I love this. Thanks for posting. Good old times.
One of ABBA's best songs is Thankyou for the Music, Agnetha's voice is angelic, this song really spoke to me as a kid, 'Im nothing special in fact I'm a bit of a bore', I was very self aware at such a young age.
Priceless and Thank for the music was always my favourite ABBA song

The joke was that Larry was a (closet) homosexual, so saying she was pretty was not to be taken sexually.
They were good to join in the humour.
Fridaaaa😍😍😍
The Late impressions Mike yarwood take off Larry Grayson 😆😆

brilllant mike yarwood
That’s just a Master Piece Best in the World 🌎 no one like Them ❤❤
Bloody brilliant 🤣👍
Mike Yarwood doing Larry Grayson but even funnier ..hilarious
Happier days!
No one could come close to Mike Yarwood, genius
R.I.P Mike Yarwood
Never found Mike Yarwood very funny but that was a very good sketch. The guys played along very well with it.
Hei is totally in to Frida 😊
I don't blame him 😂😂Frida is a GODDESS 💕 and so funny and charming. How wouldn't felt in love with her?? 💕🥰
I love the bit when says to Benny I love you in crossroads
That’s a brilliant Larry Grayson impression movements everything, but can’t believe the abba track was cut short at the end.
It's the pout and the look to camera that gets me!
My mum was in the studio audience for this show
I'm not sure what Larry thought seeing this. It was clearly in his lifetime and (as such) presumably met his approval.

Yes - such a shame Larry Grayson didn't get to do this with ABBA, he would have made it something special and been SO much funnier than Mike Yarwood!
At Home with Larry Grayson (1983): with Janet Street-Porter, Larry liked the impression of him.

This was presumably from the Mike Yarwood show. The female impressionist is Janet Brown. Love to see ABBA making jokes too.
Christmas 1978 special.
I wish it was longer!
I don't remember seeing this before but I think its wonderful
lmfao ,,, class... mike as larry grayson ... shut dat door plus the gals from ABBA

Oh God this is hilarious, Mile Yarwood nearly broke at 3.30 ! Legend - never forgotten.

Notice how Mike just slightly corpsed here at 1:30.
The good old days Saturday's

His best sketch by far
Funny ❤
love this....
Mike had the scripts - something many impressionists lack. Wish I'd watched his show when I actually had the chance
The great Mike Yarwood but the real Larry was better
What a stupid thing to say
*Bjorn and Agnetha Was so cute holding hands but then they let go* 😞
My message aimed at Kevin Barton who seemed to criticise not only mike yarwood but bert weedon as well. Mr Barton must be a very talented fellow
And again he loses it a bit at 3:36. Fantastic.
"If you put music to that they'd have another hit record" PMSL! 🤣
Mike yarwood & Janet brown with ABBA
Saturdays not the same anymore
I love the bit... ' & yes & I'm exhausted' by Agnetha'
I was expecting Yarwood to say that if she started at six, then it is natural for her to be tired as she has had a long day!
WOOOHOOW!!! ABBAS BARBIE FRIDAA, YOU ARE HOT!
I LIKE YOUR RED HAIR TO!

Funny, although Larry himself was hilarious!
Very funny
shut dat door lol

Agnetha is one of the sexiest women ever to appear in TV .
