I love that you're still making videos! I wanted to make an Igil years ago and you sent me some of your blue prints. One day I will build that beautiful instrument! Thanks for educating all of us!

Hi Marshall! I remember sending those blueprints to you! :-D Yeah, I've had something of a newfound inspiration for making videos! :-D There was quite a long period where I didn't really have any ideas other than play the same ol' songs over and over again. 😆

This can happen on virtually every stringed instrument from all that playing. I think Synthetic Strings (or even Steel Strings) would save us that trouble because they last many times as long as Silk Strings, also the Nylon strings have a much fuller sound.

@@TsugaruShamisen The fretted Yomisen (4 string Shamisen) could be a great add on as it's great for playing Choral arrangements of songs like for F2 C3 F3 C4 Tuning I can play Light in the Hallway by Pentatonix arranged by Roger Emerson (SATBB voicing w/ all Vocal parts on Yomisen & Accompaniment using the Accompaniment Track from the ShowTrax CD).

@@TsugaruShamisen Mechanical Pegs would help the instrument stay in tune better along w/ Loop End Synthetic Strings.

My san no ito makes a strange high pitch noise after I strike it, is it just because it's worn down? I play almost every day a week for about an hour, so I thought this might be the reason, but could there be some other reason for this?

That's very curious! I have a feeling it might more likely be related to possibly the koma or the sao. If you could take a short video, I should be able to diagnose the problem. :-)

@@TsugaruShamisen I managed to fix the problem! It seems as though my koma might have been a bit rough, so I sandpapered it just a little before practice, and it fixed the problem. Thanks for the concern, it's really hard to fix problems related to Shamisen where I live since no one else plays it here.

@@iliketoeatchocolate623 Aaah, that makes sense! Yeah, I had a feeling there was perhaps a burr or something on the koma slightly touching the string. For shamisen, most of the issues are just related to basic physics. (I.e, if something is buzzing or ringing, something must be touching the string somewhere along the shamisen) That takes quite a bit of mystery out, in a good way. :-) Glad I could help!
