Great content mate, I mow lawns full time but am self employed, 2 years now and I have 60 clients, before I started I was going to start with Jim's Mowing but the fee was around $35,000 NZ dollars which I didn't have so I bought 2nd hand gear, mower, weedeater and a blower at first. I started with my neighbors around me and then put billboards up at the local supermarkets and then on FB marketplace which within I had over 50 clients in 3 months and over time built to more in which was great but some clients were just temporary which was good but what I did is filtered out the highest paid and which was closer to where I'm situated. Over the 2 years I've now got a friend working with me, new work gear and I'm only working around 35 to 40 hours a week which gives me time for my family, friends and myself. But great info you have given me and hope to move up a notch on work duties. Anyways great work what you are doing and certainly a key gardener. Cheers mate.
Thanks appreciate the detailed content and value you have provided others with the comment. Cost has come down a bit now, however, really glad to hear you made a great go of it!
The main thing apart from advertising is keeping what customers you do got happy... yea the internet is a great thing but nothing on earth beats WORD OF MOUTH when ppl talk about you and how good of a job you do everytime for them that's what gets you growing alot.. Jim and Andrews and all of those guys got so huge from literally word of mouth.. doing a great job everytime and keeping people happy goes a very long way.. because they talk about ya to their mates or family and that reputation held u got with ya customers is the only thing that's gonna bring em back everytime..that's how Jimmy got his bizo to what it is today.. nothing beats a happy customer
Very good informative video. I'm seriously considering a Jims franchise as I'm at that stage in life where I'm just fed up with being with what I've been doing for the last 20+ years. It looks like a great low stress and relatively easy job with the backing of a household name, there's not much not to like about that.
It’s not an easy job. Definitely not stressful but it’s hard work mate. I have my own “Mozza’s mowing”. I Didn’t buy a franchise. 1st year was hard building up customer base but after that it’s great. I have about 80 regulars and works like clockwork. I would not buy a franchise because once you are set up with your customers you will still be paying $500 plus a month to a franchise who you don’t really need. Good luck
Thank you for making and posting this video. It was fantastic! Unfortunately, there is not a Jim's franchisee possibility in my area as we have a very short growing season on the very east coast of Canada and Jims is only on the west coast at the moment so I have to start up with my own brand. I love everything I've read and watched on the Jim's brand!
@@JimsGroup No.. thank YOU Jim's Group for making the video and for sharing with everyone, regardless if they are in your network or not. The high tide raises all ships! I'll have my eye out for when you come to the east coast of Canada!
We couldn't tell you exactly, however, it would be pretty much just territory/customer price you would be paying, so that could be anywhere from $10 - $20k depending. If you want to know more please call 131 546
I’m a independent guy working out of a doggy Ute but it’s only because I’m 22 with 2 kids I would like to join Jim’s but unfortunately I can’t afford it I got a call asking to do a quote she said that she’s been getting it done fortnightly by Jim’s but she said it’s getting to expensive so I told her I’m sorry but I can’t do it because I look up to Jim’s blokes but I do get offended when people think I’m out just for the hell of it
Have you spoken to the local regional franchisor? There are options for you and if you have your equipment already, you are halfway there. Yes, some customers expect you to work for a very low-rate unfortunately. Please have a chat with the local franchisor by calling 131 546 to see if they can help. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
Iv talked to him before about 18 months ago I met up with him and had a chat I’m with Jim’s plus I have 5 stars I think I charge a good price i aim for $70 a hour and normally get it I’m not cheap but people do assume my price is going to be lower and don’t even bother calling Jim it’s but I’m very good at giving a higher price there’s been days iv made over $100 a hour my best day was $900 in about 4 hours installing insulation in a roof for a customer that’s a good side job for the winter

I do mowing in a small town, and don't think having a franchise is worth while but if I lived in a big town I would go with Jim's, you need a name behind you

You should buy an edging head for your mulittool, makes a huge difference and your edges will be mint mate 👌👌👌
We think he has one now.
How good is the edger mate, especially the atoms for the feral stuff
Great interview what a champion!

Good tips and thanks for the video.
Great video. What's the weight of the trailer empty? And what size is it?
Thanks, thats a question above our pay grade! If you search Jim's Mowing Bayswater Trailer a video about it should come up.
follow up with him or another franchisee, you need to show more of jims
38:25 when he chucked out the weed he just pulled into another garden

Pretty good idea!

Good job! :)
So if you buy into a franchise, do they give you access to client lists or something?
You can buy a franchise with clients or without it's up to you.
what is the recommended mower height
Jimbo's is all over here everywhere in NZ
Haha those edges 😂😂
Come on mate, everyone starts somewhere, he'll get better with practice or maybe an edger head for his mulittool.
@@berjo959 yeah fair enough I still stuff up a fair bit.
I do ok on bye myself don't need jim mowing
Good on you Andrew, we are glad to hear that!
28 jobs in one day ....really ?
If your route is efficient, multiple jobs in one-street then yes.
Easily down with 2 guys working alongside you. I have a mate that mows 12 jobs a day on his own and he considers that normal.
90 jobs
Over 2 weeks is 9 jobs a day ,
9 jobs is 10 + hours
Monday to Friday.
No thanks
It's up to each owner to decide how hard they want to work.
