Harumafuji's dohyo-iri is a thing of beauty as could be seen at approx. 5:30 mark in the video. His legs are wide apart, his thighs almost in one line, his upper body bent forward so much it's parallel to the ground. What an amazing display of athleticism for a man of this size. I consider myself fortunate to have been able to witness his dohyo-iri and wrestling live.
Really is a thing of beauty. I hope I get the chance to view this ritual in person one day. Seeing Harumafuji still brings an ache to my heart. He was so skilled. It's sad to see him have to leave the status of Yokozuna and for the reason why.
+Maxime Thibault Both Hakuho and Harumafuji perform the Shiranui style, whereas Kakuryu performs Unryu style. The main differences are the shape of the knot of their ropes and the position of the hands when standing up: both hands facing forward for the Shiranui style (1:21, 5:38) , one hand next to the body and the other facing forward for the Unryu style (3:36). Hope it is not too late!!
If you have not visited Chris Gould's sumo site, you might wish to do so. If there is a better English-language source for sumo information, I do not know what it is.

too bad he was a violent asshole, who couldn't control his anger.
Agreed. Same goes for Hakuho
Harumafuji did it best. So low and really beautiful to watch.

You know, there is something TRULY scary about seeing a person that large stomp the ground like that. Even through a video, it really is intimidating!
This Video was a real treat to watch thanks for taking the time to upload it. One of my favorite parts of Sumo is the traditions and ceremony involved
This is something we rarely - if ever - get to see......... thanks!
It will be a sad day in sumo when Hakuho and Kakuryu retire.
😢😢
I can’t wait to travel to Japan and participate in sumo.
The sword carrier for Hakuho is a Brazilian :)
I love to see Hakuho when he fights. I think he is a very good Sumo wrestler.

Why is that guy carrying the samurai with a towel?
Oi eu vou lutar somu contra você. E você vai vencer de mim? Eu não sei
All of them are Mongols dominating the Sumo in Japan
Does the title yokozuna serve for certain time period or until someone beats and strips the title off of him?
a yokozuna remains a yokozuna until he retires. It can never be taken from him nor can he be demoted unlike the lower ranks.
Ronin Dave is correct, but when a yokozuna is performing badly or has some public scandal there can be tremendous pressure to retire.
3 yokuzana From MONGOLIA !
