Every time I ask ChatGPT for help I had to do a lot of the heavy lifting myself, but … I never had to deal with a blank piece of paper and … it took a lot of pressure away from me. I was no longer alone. A had a companion and that took a lot of my anxiety away. Thank you ChatGPT 😘🤖
Prompt Genius is AMAZING! With the world-building that I have done in Chat, the NPCs that I make just flow with everything in the world, I have asked Chat to make me a few NPCs just as tests, and man it works GREAT!!! For the most recent one I gave a species to work with, and chat put him in the correct region of a country that the species is from, it used names of key people that I have given/Chat has made! Man, it is great!
I have started implementing ChatGPT more and more. My favorite aspect is once I started just conversing with it like it was another writer. I sit here with my cup of coffee and embrace the collaborative mindset. Heck, I even now find myself referring to it like it is a person and we are in a conversation. "Oh, I really like that. But I want the encounter to be more gruesome and scary. Add some more morbid details" or "remember what we came up with last week for the Siblings' Prophecy - lets flesh that out some more - I think I want it to be based on an ancient Gatekeeper's folk tale..." I have found that once I stopped trying to talk to it like it was tech (I am a software engineer by trade) and just started 'working on stuff for this week's session' my results have been phenomenal. Sure, I sill am doing "generate me the stats for 6 random combatants in a tournament" but I am moving more towards using this as a virtual assistant to bounce ideas back and forth with.
Great video, and I could not agree more about your core premise about imagination. I have used ChatGPT for many campaign items and although it is good for "jogging my creativity" it is not great at making a very diverse and imaginative product without some help from the user. Thanks for sharing your insights!
I use chatgpt mostly to sort the information I want to give in a concise, yet interesting, way. Then I create a short scene of what the villains are doing. Occasionally I'll use it to generate NPC dialogue if I'm getting stumped, but that rarely happens.
Great tips! I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of some amazing games - all of which occurred before ChatGPT. If it makes it a little easier for DM prep - great. I think it’s a tool that will be used differently by everyone. Thanks for your input!
Im a first time GM for my family and while preparing for a pre made module, i was inspired to create my own setting after ready Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft. I had already had hours and hours of conversation with ChatGpt 3.5, filling out information as needed. IT was an interesting experience. I would input my general ideas and asked it to flesh them out a bit and from there it was a spiral of adding, removing, expanding information, that was very enjoyable to me. Your video and the information in google docs has been great for getting the AI to condense days of information in just a few answers. You have gained a subscriber my good sir.
I wish saw this video before I made my world submission to Kobold Press for their Labrynth multiverse kickstarter thing. Love your stuff! I formatted my submission in the SPERM historical framework (Social, Political, Economic, Religious, and Military).
Thanks! I haven’t developed any for organizations or factions, but I can see how those would be really helpful. Let me know if you come up with anything!
Off-topic: Can I ask about the Asian calligraphy in the background to the left of your video? I see the last character says "Person" but I don't know what the top says and it has me curious.
Hey there! I have a couple in my room, but I'm not sure which one you're referring to... Can you tell me the time-stamp of the video so I can take a look? If it's the one on my back wall, it's "Ronin."
That can be a little tricky. It also has limitations with how much information it can retain at any given time. One trick may be to periodically ask for a summary of what you’ve input so far. That way you have something you can use in new chat thread using 3.5 so you can can keep the progress going until you can use 4.0 again. If you don’t like the result, you can jump back over to your 4.0 thread and continue when the time limit is up. Just a thought off the top of my head though. Thanks for commenting!

And once I feed our homebrew setting to ChatGPT and we had a conversation about it. That was very interesting too 🤓
Glad it’s working for you!

This is a great option, and also works really well with Bard. Do you have any other templates, say for organizations/factions?
Thanks! I haven’t developed any for organizations or factions, but I can see how those would be really helpful. Let me know if you come up with anything!

Thank you I can finally make a RPG game that takes place in Ohio
I want to use this but i saw that chatgpt only allows 50 messages/3 hours. Any idea on how to deal with that?... Should i use chatgpt 3.5 instead?
