'Alleged extortionist Dalinzolo Mareke was not a legitimate chief'

- Eastern Cape Community Safety MEC Xolile Nqatha says the police must not hesitate when confronted with criminals. Nqatha also discloses that it has since been proven that alleged extortionist Dalinzolo Mareke, who was shot dead by the police, was not a legitimate chief. He adds that Mareke and his accomplices were killed after confronting the police while conducting their work.

As South Africans we should start taking ourselves seriously , this is unbelievable. The likes of Nqatha are in a deep state of delusion. He talks about “early stages” as if crime only began yesterday in this country.
It’s very scary that suddenly every Tom & Dick is vocal about the moreke issue. Only King Dalindyebo earned my respect, he condemned that boy whilst alive and terrorising people. Now that he is dead erupts all these useless voices. Where was Xolile? Im in Gauteng but got to know about that thug in 2022…he is not even ashamed to mention “intelligence” in this platform. What intelligence? Mere journalists are always ahead of every security institution. Earlier this year moreke was exposed by Checkpoint and they dug their heads under the sand. His death was just a coincidence, he would still be a chief up to today if the shoot out didn’t happen.

This one is such a hard worker shame. He is trying his utmost best to combat crime and violence. I have seen him bringing stability in the taxi industry. King Dalindyebo spoke out of emotions and anger, implicating people without facts.

Our media houses have shown us how much they do not respect our traditional leadership. They constantly referred to Mareke as a chief and a traditional leader in all of their headlines, despite the public outcry that Mareke was a criminal who self appointed himself as a "chief" of that community. The King of the Thembu nation even told the same media houses that he does not know "the bustard".> I am wondering if this extortionist had claimed that he is a Member of Parliament; would they have kept stubbornly referring to him as a Member of parliament in their headlines?.. Probably not!! but because they have no respect for traditional leaders, they kept associating traditional leadership with that criminal
I think traditional leadership should also take this as an opportunity to develop public institutions like libraries, community centers, websites etc where all local leadership listed and their work published
...whilst not totally disputing your point...next time do a proper update on an issue before making a conclusion...Media Houses never invented Chieftainship of Maleke..
It is the community members who appointed him to Chieftainship ..on more than one occasion , the community members confirmed that they installed him as chief because of his bravery ..
@@williecira5676 My guy; a traditional leader is not appointed by a community - a traditional leader is born into that institution by his parents, grand parents and great great great grand parents who were traditional leaders themselves!!! Hence King Dalindyebo said he does not know the guy, he genuinely did not know him or his family within the isntitution of traditional leadership in Thembuland. So, If there is anybody who needs to do research here, it is you!! I am merely pointing out that the Media Houses were hellbent on referring to him as a traditional leader despite the King (who is the head of that entire area/Kingdom) saying he is not a traditional leader but an impostor.
@@stephenchisadza4975 Public institutions like Libraries, community centres are not a traditional leader's responsibility. A traditional leader's responsibility is custodianship of culture, administering the land, allocating land to people for occupation, resolving minor community disputes that dont necesarily need to go to court.. or stepping in when there's a big dispute like King Dalindyebo did.. If you want them to develop the institutions you have mentioned - then give them the resources, they will do it. Or strip Mayors and councilors their duties and redirect those mayoral powers to traditional leaders - they will happily do it.

Lack of accountability, and consequences, corruption aswell, creates a fight or die society, where those at the top benefit from a lack of discipline and security, they use their power and influence to create an environment that suits them but also paralyse the system from coming after them
