Joseph Haydn - Symphony No. 6 in D, "Morning"

- Joseph Haydn (31 March 1732 - 31 May 1809), was an Austrian composer, one of the most prolific and prominent of the Classical period. He is often called the "Father of the Symphony" and "Father of the String Quartet" because of his important contributions to these forms. He was also instrumental in the development of the piano trio and in the evolution of sonata form.
A lifelong resident of Austria, Haydn spent much of his career as a court musician for the wealthy Esterházy family on their remote estate. Isolated from other composers and trends in music until the later part of his long life, he was, as he put it, "forced to become original". At the time of his death, he was one of the most celebrated composers in Europe.
Joseph Haydn was the brother of Michael Haydn, himself a highly regarded composer, and Johann Evangelist Haydn, a tenor. He was also a close friend of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and a teacher of Ludwig van Beethoven.
Symphony No. 6 in D, "Morning":
I. Adagio - Allegro (0:00 - 5:54)
II. Adagio - Andante - Adagio (6:00 - 12:14)
III. Menuet and Trio (12:19 - 16:22)
IV. Finale: Allegro (16:27 - 21:08)
Performed by Musici di San Marco
Conductor: Alberto Lizzio
I’m at home, sitting in front of a raging fire. Everyone else is asleep and this is a perfect compliment to the silence of my driveway and this fire. Perfect

Good wonderful picture 😊
Wonderful and timeless music!!! The music helps the mind and spirit so much.
I feel that I get energy & power from Haydn's Thank you!
You're welcome! I'm glad to hear this brings joy to you. It does that to me as well!
It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not - they are new EVERY MORNING. Great is Thy faithfulness. Thank you, AJS!
Beautiful music with beautiful pictures. Birds singing, squirrels playing, bunnies hoping, with the dawn the promise of new life. Pure love and joy.
This music is sooooo beautiful. Haydn is NOT boring!!!
I'm a teen autistic trans boy, this symphony brings me everything I need, this is just so sweet, calming it gives me a huge feeling of comfort
Most of my classmates mocks me because I listen to classical music instead of what they like
This is just so stupid, why? I don't see the problem with listening to this kind of music
Do not ever be ashamed to listen to exactly the kind of music that you enjoy - whatever it is like. If someone else is not able to hear the beauty in something that you hear it in, it is their loss, not yours. And if it is any comfort, there are millions of us who can hear the beauty in classical music like you. We might not be a part of your daily life, but you are definitely not alone in this regard :) Stay true to what you enjoy, and enjoy it without any regrets or misgivings! Don't let others' negativity to put out the flame.
Boy you have a good taste of music.
@@yixinzhang7937 I actually listen to almost everything to be honest, but I have a special affection for classical music (mostly Haydn's) and alternative rock (Nirvana is a good example)
I'm totally sure that herr haydn would've been disgusted and ashamed if had known that some edgy and confused little thing listens to his works
The devil wants you to believe you are trans. God created Man and Female, pray your Rosary and Beg your Heavenly Father for Mercy and the strength to overcome the evil spirit that is lying to your mind about your body and what it is.
God loves you my friend, seek Jesus Christ and put away your sexual desires and lust fueled sins and thoughts before you hurt yoursrlf

De rien :) Merci à toi pour l'appréciation!
Fantastic performance!!! Wonderful 🎶❤
Es más que bella. En su aparente sencillez, a veces parece... un milagro. Gracias Papá Haydn.

You're welcome
What a beautiful symphony.
Indeed.
Accompanied by beautiful images. Again: thank you for this moment of happiness
You're most welcome! I'm glad you enjoy it :)
That is just an absolutely beautiful quote at the beginning there
Thanks for appreciating. I thought it would be indeed quite suitable for this musical art by Haydn and these images.
Haydn was a cool man 😂😂
Indeed😎
@@zoltankelemen4999 his music is not boring
Yes, he was a roman catholic man and composed with the rosary in his hand 😍🙏😇
If people say that the mans music is 'boring' then they really ought to look up the poor fellows everyday work schedule.
Its amazing he even had any time to compose to begin with in the first place!
Best of composers in his uniqueness and savvy shrewdness thank you for sharing
You're welcome!
A musical masterpiece. Thank you for uploading.
You're most welcome :) This is indeed a remarkable piece of wonder.
Haydn is always so amazing.
This is a wonderfull piece of singing notes.....a wonderfull musical taste .......il have it for breakfast....
Thank you Andreas !

Sorry I'm late to the party. Just an old rock n roller that loves most all music , just sorry It's taken so long to appreciate such great pieces of music. Thank you Dennis Lewin. (Turning you on to classical music am1420 whk). Lt William
I feel the same way! Although I can’t say I’m old seeing as I’m 24. But I mainly listen to bands from the 60s and 70s, but during this quarantine/pandemic I’ve fallen in love with Classical music. Haydn has become a favorite of mine along with Schubert.
Symphonie "matinale", mieux qu'un rêve éveillé...
This symphony is my favorite song I listen to it all the time. I love all the little pictures too!
I'm glad you appreciate my little effort with the pictures :) And yes, the music itself by Haydn is remarkably wonderful.
+Andreas Johannes Salminen Yes, yes it is.
This ROCKS !!
Thank you for the beautiful music, beautiful pictures and, prior to the start, the Scripture verses to put them all into proper context.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoy it.
Celestial Blessing!! heart thanks for this heaven gift, from God to everyone.
+bersa888 Let us put this way: if it wasn't for God, Haydn or anyone else for that matter couldn't have ever heard this music let alone put it to notes. Or in other words - Haydn put the notes into it, God put the music :)
+bersa888 Indeed, such is your opinion and view on the case, and I respect that. All one can hope for is equal respect in return, I suppose. My intent was not to belittle F.J. Haydn or his outstanding talent by any means. Certainly this music wouldn't have been realized without him, either. For me (or a person who believes in God and his ability to influence this "tangible" life, so to speak), Haydn is as important part as is God, regarding this particular case. I might have worded my thoughts in a misleading way, but I did not mean to write as if I was attributing all Haydn's creativity to the supernatural. It is quite obvious that humans are capable of creating art or anything they desire by themselves as well, without any a thought or even attempt to connect it with God. But from this viewpoint, a synergeia or "co-operation" between God and human is what yields the greatest result. That is to say - if allowed, God can magnify and make even more pristine that which a human creates. But then again, if one holds a belief in a personal God as "portrayed" in Judeo-Christian tradition, the Lord is the creator of everything that is tangible and everything that isn't tangible, which would mean that humans can only create autonomously with things and abilities that have been given to and breathed into them.
As has been made evident by you, this is not a matter of fact or something that can be measured empirically or by physical criteria (I don't think I ever insinuated such, by the way...), but a matter of belief. But as also has been made evident by you, you don't hold such a belief yourself :) As said, one can only hope for mutual, equal respect for each other's thoughts and viewpoints.
I completely agree with you , as far as i know God has never ever spoken to, or made any indication that he actualy exists to anyone on earth!!
I thought Haydn wrote it !!!
Que bella música !!
Very simple, very touching and beautiful. I wouldn't expect such a beauty for an earlier symphony. The violin part is so beautiful. It totally matches the title "Morning symphony". Well done :).
Not to mention key of D is always fiery, yet removed. I always saw the D-note as orange. And i still do!
Радость жизни, мудрая и светлая.
Je trouve cette musique tellement magnifique... Elle me donne envie de pleurer tellement c'est doux et beau...
Thank you so much for posting this song! I've been saying this to many TH-cam channels owners who post barroque songs.
God bless you!
Haydn falls into the classical era rather than baroque.
This is classical music tho
This fine work is neither Baroque, nor is it a ‘song’.
It is a symphony, and it is from the Classical period.
Increíblemente hermosas.... ¡La música y las imágenes!
¡Gracias! 😀
Eres muy bienvenido! :) (Sorry for poor translate, hehe)
Qué bella música..! Se trata de una hermosa versión de la Sinfonía Nro. 6.
I had the honor of sitting at Haydn’s fortepiano in his Vienna home.
Is wanderfull listen Hydn.
Haydn has a constant grin on his
face, even when he is solemn.
A perfect summary of the lazy, inaccurate, and misleading caricature that has bedevilled this composer’s reputation for the past 200 years.
@@elaineblackhurst1509 A little
atrabiliar for a light-hearted
comment. But two hundred years
sounds classically venerable to me.
@@markmanning2545
The point is that yet again we have an inaccurate, simplistic caricature that is unhelpful to a proper understanding of the composer; nobody goes around writing that Beethoven is gloomy and morose even when he’s writing happy music - just baffled as to why it’s only Haydn who seems to attract these demeaning comments.
Tudo belo, inclusive a edição de imagens!
Really quality version. At the start, flute's entrée is so delicate… strings are so nice, and don't drown out the woodwind, c.f. Adam Fischer 1989! Sound is controlled right through the initial crescendo-the wave peaks without froth and spray, so to speak. Really wonderful. Thanks for uploading.
You're welcome :) I'm glad that you appreciate. Thanks for the comments.
bellissimo
Beautiful. Thank you Andreas.
Beautiful beyond words! You're welcome, John :)
Какая прелесть ! Гайдн , оказывается великий музыкант . Не зря он - классик !
Haydn said to Mozart's father Leopold, "Your son is the greatest composer known to me in person or by reputation" . Mozart and Haydn dedicated works to each other out of mutual respect but unfair to say Mozart learned everything from Haydn. He was a child prodigy and was taugh by Leopold.
Thanx for that info, I have some musical education but not to the extent were I know of the personal relationships of these giants, ,
Tim Penfield
The quotation mentioned is one of the most famous comments made by one composer about another; Haydn’s understanding and appreciation of Mozart was as generous and perceptive as it was unselfish and heartfelt.
Most of the rest of the comment is nonsense.
Mozart’s one dedication to Haydn was the set of six ‘Haydn’ quartets; it was dedicated - with a beautiful introduction in Italian - to his great friend because he acknowledged how much he had learnt about quartet writing from Haydn, particularly his recent Opus 33 quartets; Haydn dedicated nothing to Mozart.
Prodigy or not, Mozart absorbed and assimilated influences and learnt things everywhere he went; his friendship with Haydn developed and grew into perhaps the deepest musical friendship of all time because for Mozart, Haydn was the only contemporary composer of a comparable stature from whom he could learn anything.
Mozart arguably learnt as much from Haydn as any other composer he met or teacher with whom he studied, the relationship between himself and JC Bach in London as an 8/9 year-old boy being an entirely different matter.
Leopold’s teaching of Mozart as a boy was limited to little more than basics and the young Mozart quickly outgrew his father’s abilities.
For sixteen months between 1764 and 1765, the young boy met JC Bach in London and this had a far greater impact on Mozart’s development than did Leopold who was more concerned with exhibiting his son as a child performer all around Europe.
Beware of simplistic and generalised comments on TH-cam.
It is fair to say they are both wonderful in their own ways.
well I have heard that song as a 5 years old
WONDERFUL - BEAUTIFUL - SO GENTLE - PERFECT !
Many , many thanks... John Cowin - London - England
You're welcome!
;Merci.
👍thx for that one
I canna read this
Malheureusement, je pense que les musiciens jouent sous un pseudonyme.

El genio, el musico, el hombre que logro lo supremo.
I selected the "dislike option" because of the fruitless and unnecessary commercial that interrupted such a beautiful piece of music. Commercials could be included at the beginning or the end of the music; and perhaps between the movements if the advertising party is so desperate for a penny. Hope that people would differentiate between what is right and what is wrong.
I understand the annoyance caused by advertisements, but I certainly haven't intended for any to be included in this video, nor have I ever asked for such to be included here. Don't really know why TH-cam has chosen to put them here, but yeah... it is a shame.

Thank you Andreas... I'm in Awe!
Me too! I'm glad you like it!
My god this is great. This is better than a lot of Mozart.
+shnimmuc I like to think so too, yes :)
+shnimmuc Mozart learned almost everything from Haydn. He even claimed that Haydn was the best composer ever.
Søren Turin
MY friend, Mozart`s teachers in order were:
His Dad, Padre Martini, J C Bach, the Manheim School of composers and lastly, Bach, Handel and Haydn. by exposure to their music.
+shnimmuc don't forget Chevalier de Saint Georges
shnimmuc the symphonies of Mozart and Haydn sound very alike. But had Mozart lived another 20 years he would have composed even greater music
18:59 - 19:07 sounds exactly like Canon in D!

A very nice version of a wondrous work. Thank you!
Ana Briones Yep, I find this rendition quite exquisite as well :)
Exquisite is the word. Actually , after searching for ohter versions by known orchestras.... none can really compare to the light, balance and matinal joy of this. A true wonder. Again.... thank you so much!!!
Ana Briones You're welcome! I'm very glad you find it to your liking, as well :)
Forgot to mention- how could I?- the lovely images!
Ana Briones I cannot claim credit for myself from the images (well, in honesty there's nothing here in this video which would be my doing. I only hope to be a messenger of sorts, delivering the therapeutic impact of this wonderful music and images...) I just had the idea of collecting different images that would go with the "Morning" theme of the composition, so I decided to search the Internet for such, and those are the best (in my opinion) that I was able to find :) I'm glad if they bring you enjoyment in addition to the music!
tetszik
Very good version with extremelty forward recording. BUT listen to the Norwegian version with Isserlis for something even finer.
Thanks for uploading this out-of-the-world beautiful symphony. Is there any way one can do away with the cacophonic burst of commercials interrupting moments of divine bliss?
You're welcome! I agree that the advertisements are a real nuisance. They didn't appear before when I had uploaded this video. I suppose TH-cam starts inserting advertisements into videos once a certain number of views has been reached... But sadly, I don't know any way how to block or remove them :(
Install AdBlocker and they magically disappear!

What a beautiful piece with very appropriate pictures. One can feel the day gently dawning. But what cretin broke it up with adds? Ruined the whole experience for me.
I'm not entirely certain in the matter, but I surmise once a video reaches a certain amount of views, TH-cam inserts advertisements to it. As far as I've understood, there are some ad-blocking programs one can download and install, but having never used them myself, I wouldn't know how to get them on :) Glad you enjoyed the video, however!
