There is a legend about it.
In 1830, the spire of the Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg was damaged. A man named Pyotr Telushkin volunteered to do the repairs. He climbed to the top without scaffolding - using only ropes - and did the work of repairing the covering of the cross and soldering the wing to the angel.
For the work done, he was paid a reward of 1 to 5 thousand rubles, but after an article was written about Telushkin - by the then president of the Academy of Arts), the whole of Russia started talking about the "heavenly roofer" and he was presented to the emperor. Legend has it that when Telushkin was asked if he wanted to ask the emperor for anything, he asked only for one thing-a certificate allowing him to drink for free in any tavern.
As you can imagine, Telushkin then often got drunk to the point of losing his memory and lost his paper. After this was repeated several times, instead of a new one, they put a brand on his throat, and he just tapped it with his fingers to pour alcohol when he went to another pub.
Very nice video, большо́е спаси́бо ! We have the same gestures in Italy, except the alcohol and the fig thing which don't exist, and the superstitious thing is somewhat different (we make "corns" and touch iron, not wood).

Потрясающее видео, спс!! Но я один услышать «змушляет» 5:02? Когда не под ударением, ы -> у?
Это вполне закономерно, что вы услышали звук У, ведь при артикуляции У и Ы
язык одинаково отодвинут назад и корень языка напряжен, разница в растяжении губ, при произнесении звука Ы губы растянуты, при произнесении У губы трубочкой. В безударном положении говорящий в видео просто недостаточно растянул губы и звук Ы получился не такой чёткий, как было б в слове замЫслил)

@@EasyRussianVideos действительно, прислушался и точно, звучит как "зЫмышляет" (точнее нечто среднее между Ы и А) . Для не нэйтива русского, не просто услышать такие нюансы.
Adamant к сожалению, в живом общении редко кто идеально артикулирует, поэтому лучше быть готовым к тому, что слова не всегда звучат на 100% так, как ты ожидаешь их услышать. В наших видео есть субтитры, чтобы отмечать для себя такие моменты 😀

nb44647 it always has to do with the idea of drinking some alcohol and not talking about it directly 😄 depending on the context the speaker may suggest drinking some alcohol or tell how he/she or someone else was doing it.
