I started following you because I also enjoy planning events and you give me inspiration. the last party I planned and hosted was a month ago and I was the only one in charge of food and drinks. I felt like half of the time at the party I was busiy heating up the food, making sure it doesn't burn, and serving everything including individual drinks- so I didn't have time to be fully present in the moment and just enjoy the party. Even though everyone complimented me on the hosting, saying it was a stunning event, I thought "was it worth it?" So my next event is going to be a chill brunch, where each guest is bringing something to eat or drink, and hopefully I'll feel less stressed about hosting and more like a guest myself.
You’re an event planner at heart, so it’s hard for you to flip out of that mode. You might need a few pizza delivery get togethers to relax with your guests.
What you are feeling is completely normal as the host. If possible, give yourself time prior to start of the party to find an alone time to relax and rest. Taking a nap (even if not fully asleep), mediating, listening to music, etc. Give yourself an hour.
