I'm a big fan of videos where it''s impossible to guess which game's Jerma playing based on the title and thumbnail alone unless you've seen the stream.
When I saw the Captain Crunch thumbnail, there was this little part of me that thought Jerma was gonna play that old Captain Crunch game back in like the early 2000s that you got in your cereal box. The game solely consisted on raising this fuzzy creature on Captain Crunch cereal and making it skateboard. And knowing Jerma I absolutely would not question it if he played it for an hour. Jerma is making the “first sauce” thing way more complicated than it has to be. Taste is a basic human trait, Caveman Grugg probably got bored one day (or had a particularly bad piece of meat that he needed to eat) and mashed some berries in a pot and poured it onto a slab of meat, it doesn’t take much to do that. Even if the “food was scarce so no sauce” argument was true, people would’ve had a surplus of food at the dawn of agriculture, so people still probably came up with it before the dawn of civilization
yeah a lot of saucing and spicing originates in 'sometimes food taste real bad. But we need to eat it anyways. So lets put something on it to mask it' and then it blossoms out from there to saucing and spicing for the sake of flavor in general
You are forgetting that this is Jerma, a man who, by his own admission, cannot play games with more than 4 buttons without his brain getting overwhelmed, would get lost in a basement for about an hour, has a meltdown over the simplest of children's puzzles, and is deathly afraid of kitchen appliances because he can't understand them and the can only associate gas and electricity with primal dangers like lightning and explosions and fire. Jerma is not the caveman who would make the first sauce. He's the one who would watch Grugg do it and still not get it. Grugg would explain it to him like twelve times that all it is just is smashing a bunch of berries and leaves together and throwing it into water, and he would still just go "Wu-way- Well yeah, but- I -uh- but like-ah-How does-What do you mean - ah- wu- that's not how it works!?" And then for the next week or so, every time he sees Grugg make sauce for the tribe's dinner, he acts like he's watching magic happening until his brain finally decides to add a new line to its internal rules of the universe which says "Bad Berries/fruit + Strange leaf + Water + Grugg magic = Grugg Sauce = Food". And then after like a Month, or however long it takes for Grugg to get tired of Jerma watching over his shoulder and to sit him down and have him make the sauce himself, he eventually realizes that Grugg Magic is not a neccesary ingredient for Grugg Sauce because it doesn't exist. Then Grugg Sauce proceeds to be all he talks about to Chat for the next couple months ("Chat" is what he calls the nest of hornets next to the river that he for some reason talks to whenever he's sent to fetch some water, or as he calls it, "streaming").
Agree. My last boss hated food. He only ate because he had to. It was the weirdest thing I’d ever encountered. He didn’t have a favorite food and never looked forward to any meal. His life was sad and meaningless.

Not even remotely. Jerma doesn't realize that sauce was not created for extra flavor. Sauces were originally used as a way to take left over undesirable food (things like onions and other items that aren't good on their own) and prevent it from being wasted. Sauces would have been made very early into societal development, even before farming.
