Everbody thinks matusow is not great player and just a mouth, but at that days, he was incredible and I dont really know how many deep runs he made it. And lots of them finished with bad beats. Incredible tournament player.

Well, technically he didn't make a bet. He did APPEAR to make a bet, but the basic rule is "player intent." So the basic enquiry is did he INTEND to bet $3 milly. If the answer is "no," then you need to find a reason to hold him to a bet he didn't intend. In this case, they ruled that there weren't enough facts to require the $3 milly to stay.

Cantu was probably afraid that Losev could have also been angle shooting, intend to bet 3 million but only bet 1.5 million then if Cantu raises to 3, Losev could have tested him for everything repping Aces-full. Didn’t like the ruling as it stood in 2008, but also Losev should have been made to reveal his hand (which I think was 3 Aces) afterwards.

After the betting controversy Losev frequently made big bets or calls with speculative hands. That might be the biggest on tilt streak I've seen.
