donnie darko is literally one of my favorites
Nice video! One film I’d definitely recommend is In the Mouth of Madness. It’s more about fiction impacting reality but it’s got some really good nightmarish sequences
The segment on the music sequences is important. I love moments in film where happy or upbeat music plays while something unsettling is happening.
Another good movie like this is Naked Lunch. It's one of my favorite films, and i love the book too. If you're thinking of watching it, please look up the trigger warnings first though. It's very disturbing, but it's honestly so good.
I LOVE NAKED LUNCH!!!!! David Cronenberg is a great director when it comes to nontraditional horror and bad dreams. Videodrome is another Cronenberg film that's similar. But damn Naked Lunch is absolutely a nightmare.
both fascinated and disturbed by the hans zimmer emotional filter soundtrack effect
rip to you for making this before skinamarink came out
I really admire your vulnerability in this video. You shared some pretty personal stuff and the Internet is always a risky place for that. Keep up the thoughtful videos!
You got me thinking about the effect Mulholland Drive and Beau is Afraid had on my consciousness😅.
Amazing video! A perfect example of a movie that feels like a bad dream is I'm Thinking of Ending Things. The entire movie is so eerie and disconcerting with only vague details to hint at what's really going on. It's also constantly changing to the point where you're not even sure if the main character is actually the main character which I think is pretty genius lol. I would def recommend watching it if you like psychological thrillers
Another Charlie Kaufman film! He also directed three of the films mentioned/shown in this video (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich, and Synecdoche, New York
Synecdoche, New York and Being John Malkovich are written by the same person as I'm Thinking Of Ending Things, Charlie Kaufman. He's one of the best at really nailing the nightmare energy. Anomalisa is another one by him that really feels like a bad dream.
This video is fantastic. Turns out I think this may be one of my favourite genres of film?? Looking forward to working through that letterbox link so I can see the films I haven't seen yet. Great for the spooky season!
love the video but i always forget coraline actually freaks people out lmao coraline is like a comfort movie to me. the book on the other hand....
I never leave comments underneath videos but I wanted to say that this video was amazingly well put and you did an amazing job explaining this topic
the conversations in this video made me think about the reflecting skin, that movie is the first one in sooo long that truly unsettled me deeply, i STILL cant think about that movie without getting deeply stirred up emotionally. captured childhood fear and naivety in such a grotesque situation almost perfectly.
Wow, this is amazing, the editing is so well done, and the information given is informing and interesting! Great job!
This video put into words a feeling I didn't know how to describe. Lovely work!
ahh this video was great you really put into words like everything i love about this genre of film

you should watch perfect blue if you havent already. but like consider looking up the triggers first. theres a number of disturbing things in the movie but specifically id like to warn about the SA scene
Not exactly a "bad dream" feeling but a movie that left me feeling gross after was Nocturnal Animals
Fantastic video, very very impressive work. Keep making these, I think people will really resonate with them :)

The Evil Within
Natural Born Killers(crazy underrated)

"Is it better to be a satisfied pig or a dissatisfied human" sound like and antique personality test question tbh.
