Grown up there my whole life. It has completely revitalized in the last 15 years. I love my town.

My Great Uncle owned The American Eagle Cafe at 252 25th Street. It used to be opened 24/7 to serve Meals to the Railroad Passengers. I grew up there in the 60’s- 70’s talking to Gypsy’s the ran a Fortune Telling Business, and heard stories from the Alcoholics in the back alley, That Was Known as Electric Alley!

Great story. My husband loves that old guy at The Gift House, he used to stop every day on his way to the train station. And people who think Ogden is so dangerous really needs to come hang out for a while. I live in what I considered the “ghetto” but it was a house we could afford with a big yard. I love it here, I love my neighbors, it’s super quiet at night. I have never locked my car or my back door. And as a middle aged white lady I would walk around my block at night anytime without fear.
I’ve been in bad neighborhoods in Naples and NYC and Ogden is a walk in the park. Literally, the river walk through town is gorgeous.

@@pippetandpossum well it’s a gated yard and I have some pit bulls with a dog door. And I just simply don’t think of it because I’m a dipshit 🥸

Imagine how Ogden would be if a Mall would not have replaced all the retail stores on Washington Blvd.

Maybe there's a small part of Ogden that I can see people avoiding, but the rest of the area is fine. I honestly think people exaggerate and need to leave the state of UT to realize how wrong they are about it. I'm glad that the state of UT is growing as it's bringing lots of much needed changes. :) I'm not originally from here though, so I know plenty of UT born folk disagree. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I pedal my bike and walk all over Ogden. Only real sketchy areas, are the trails on the Ogden River-and the 17th Street Tunnel that hasn't seen a police patrol since 1884. .

@@larryhinze1617 that’s the thing about Ogden. If you aren’t looking for problems, you’ll most likely not find any. If you get curious and dip your toes into the water of the crime life, you’ll quickly find yourself consumed in it. Unless you’ve been active in the underworld of Ogden and have been to prison I don’t want to hear about your bike rides. We don’t look at you as enemies or targets. Just keep enjoying your bike rides bro ❤️

It has a bad reputation, but statistically Salt Lake and even West Valley City are WAY more dangerous. I think most of Ogden's bad reputation are remnants from at least 30 or 40 years ago, I lived there from 2011 to 2021 and I felt very safe.
