I can't remember if that one was in a half Arabian class or a purebred class. If purebred then it is not a roan, but it could be if it's half Arabian. I'll go double check that when I can.

I'm partial to western riding, so I'd love to see more of the western classes. As for some of the colors - on the young horses - I think some of those colors may not have an exact name because the horse is likely transitioning to gray. Their coats can do a lot of color changes before they settle down. I had one gray, and he started out chestnut, then had about a year of such blotchy red-orange and white coloring that he looked kinda mangy. I was actually worried that was the color he'd stop at, but thankfully his coat continued to change, and he ended up being a beautiful blue-gray with black legs and points, and a silver and black mane and tail. His legs were even chestnut initially, so it was all a surprise to me. I was just relieved when he was done - and so pretty, too. 🥰

Thanks for your input about the western classes. I will be uploading some of those in the next few months, so if you are subscribed with notifications turned on, then you will be notified when those get published. Your little foal that grew up sounds like it ended up having a beautiful color! I am really surprised the chestnut changed like that!

I remember back in the day when you could just take your every day saddle and bridle and enter into shows and you could win your class. Nowadays if you don't have a $1000 saddle and a $10,000 horse, you don't win. Now you can't hardly show anymore unless you can tie a lot of money into it. 4-H is also the same way, only because the parents put everything they have financially so their kid can win, not teaching the child anything. I miss the old days.

Love to see the Beautifully turned out shiny horses, but wow do I cringe at the amount of draw reins, tight martingales and chains I see in that warm up ring! In dressage we call the hyperflexation Rolkur….and it is abhorrent because that much neck flexation causes numerous problems, including oxygen deficiency.
PS- I know Arabian horses tend to carry themselves with a natural break at the poll- I wonder if their unique conformation allows for more neck flexation than the typical dressage horse?

He is a rose grey, he will be solid white when he gets older. Grey horses are often another color when they are young (this one was born chestnut, giving that rosey look), then they often turn dappled grey, then solid white. Horse at 5:16 is also a grey, depite being dark. Purebred arabians don't come in true roan, but can carry the rabicano gene that creates a roanish appearance.
