- Things to know before visiting Santorini, Greece
Here are a few things to know before traveling to Santorini that I wish someone had told me before I traveled there. It’s always good to do some research before visiting a new place, hopefully these insights give you more of an idea of what to expect and how to plan your travel to Santorini.
Before leaving the cruise ship make sure to have the ticket for the tender with you also make sure to have hat and sunscreen due to long lines (wait in the sun) on cable car to get up to the town of Fira.
During the peak season (June - August) the prices all over Greece are higher, there are more people everywhere and finding hotels with views and availability is difficult. However, you will have warm Mediterranean weather and sunny days, also everything will be open for anything you want or need.
A visit to Santorini during the off season (Sept - February), the island is very quiet, and you will feel like you are the only one there. Unfortunately, many of the luxury resorts, travel companies and restaurants are closed at this time of year because of the small number of tourists and the weather.
