that is very strange. My BRS stove boiled 1 cup of water in less than a min, using MSR isopro fuel canister. Condition is no win in California redwood tree forest. It boiled so fast before I even had a chance to get my tea bag out of the box and package. But I used a stainless steel pot 5" diameter. with lid. No win screen.
No the gas cannister does not get hot. The idea I would think is on a windy day the wind is keeping the cannister cool, and the windshield is not needed on non windy days. Thanks for your comment. All the best Clive

it does get canister and stove base too hot, what doesn't happen when used without windshield. concerning..

Would the windshield work with a propane bottle when using an adapter for the stove?
founf thi on Amazon for 14 dollars canadian i have a toaks 1100 pot and a soto windmaster looks like it will work
