      This is 100% the most scary reason the NTSB, FAA, and CA state are most concerned with (they made points about this during their press release). He directly put thousands of lives at risk with how easy that crash could have started a wildfire that would have been incredibly difficult to contain in time.
      The state and the feds are going to be treating this as a deliberate act of recklessness, negligence, criminal law (manslaughter), as well as environmental and product safety laws. That’s how the law works. Sounds stupid, everything might be obvious, but if you admit guilt it makes the case so much easier for the judge and everyone else. They can say “yup you admitted case closed. Next”
      But if you keep saying you’re not guilty, the law has to prove that you’re 100% guilty.
      Even then if you keep saying you’re not guilty, even if they charge you, and you go to jail, once you come out you could hire a lawyer to have those charges either dropped (if possible) or lower to a lesser charge. So from a felony to a misdemeanor. It takes a LOT of time as well as money, but at least you won’t be stuck with a felony charge for the rest of your life. Once you sign a paper admitting your guilty as part of a plea deal you’re stuck with that responsibility for the rest of your life. He’s probably scared and his lawyer clearly sucks. He’s gonna go to jail no matter what. The government probably hit him with the old school “you’re facing 50+ years of jail for this, but if you take this plea deal, and sign right here that you’re 100% GUILTY, the max sentence you’ll be facing is 12 years. The judge won’t be able to see this deal until the end of the trial. So if he says “go to jail for 40 years” he will then proceed to open this folder and see that the max you’ll be facing is 12”

      That just for 2 of his state charges. He has like 13 more felony charges coming, and not including like 2 dozen federal charges, 3-5 of which carry 10+ year minimum sentences. He's looking at a minimum of 20+ years state and 40+ federal according to some experienced lawyers. The book will be thrown at him, and it will come to no surprise if there will be 80+ years worth of charges, and some asking for life in prison.
      Regardless of what will happen, he's going to prison for the rest of his life.

      Okay i dont know anything about planes. But isnt it possible to glide a plane like this and semi-safely land somewhere on the open ground ? I mean sure it would be a bumpy landing but still better and safer ?

    • @itsnetts
      @itsnetts ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@aljosap8445 Yes, planes can glide and safely land without engine power, it's just that if you're not anywhere near flat area and lose power, landing isn't going to be pretty. As with everything, the plane wants to fall to the ground, but diving a small angle gives you lift under your wings, so you're transferring potential energy into forward momentum. Obviously there's only so much you can transfer depending on your altitude, wingspan, wing surface area, plane weight and even altitude from sea level.

    • @aljosap8445
