    I am from Weligama but now lives in Colombo.
    I have had so many kottus in my life but any Kottu couldn’t beat the taste of the Kottu from this place when I used to eat when I was a little child.
    I miss that Kottu a lot.
    I really want to go there and have a Kottu again. Will go soon.
    😍❤️❤️❤️😍

    Kothu roti is a jaffna tamil dish. It did not originate in south India. Sinhalese have learnt it from jaffna tamils. They learned a lot of other dishes too from the burghers as many of the Sinhalese worked as servants in tamil and burgher homes.

    Sri Lankan kottu has many varieties and its different from chef to chef. However its very delicious. It doesn't require Mono Sodium Glutamate to give taste if the chef knows how to make the chicken curry right way.. However since its high in carbohydrates many hardworking labuours can be seen commonly in buying kottu

      ram chandran it s not..tamil ..it s a food...some tamil idiots always try to own everything. they have no history in Sri Lanka..and they live in fantacy that they are the oldest and dominent race in the world..

    • @afrinjeya30
      @afrinjeya30 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fox Hunter learn how to spell before you call other people idiots and what he means is, kothu is a tamil word and not a sinhalese word. Tamil people do not live in fantasy. The year of origin of tamil and its relationship with sanskrit are inconclusive and debatable, but the statement that it is the oldest surviving classical language is a fact due to its wide spread use. Behind every myth is a reason.

    The narrator says, "Kottu" is chopped by Sinhala. I'm a Sinahalese person. I can confirm that the word Kottu doesn't any meaning in Sinhalese language. The word Kottu comes from the Tamil word Kothu meaning minced. Tamil is the second most spoken language in Sri Lanka. Kottu Roti is a uniquely Sri Lankan take of South Indian Kothu Parotta. The origin of Kottu Roti maybe debatable, most people believe it originated around 1980s in Eastern city of Batticaloa by Tamil Muslim vendors.
    Now the famous Kottu Roti recipe has been popularized by the Sinhalese people, but credit where it is due.

    Does anyone know if this would stay well in the fridge for a few days? Would the bread get soggy? I know it's meant to cook and serve right away (after all it is street food), but I'd love to make a big batch and eat it all week.

    • @authenticworldfood
      @authenticworldfood  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try and see ;) I have no experience with that, as in Sri Lanka they make it fresh all the time. But I think it should work for 2-3 days, but wrap the dough into a piece of cloth or something, that the moisture doesn`t evaporate ;)

    • @randulatelge6777
