The footballing history books will say that Germany went out at the group stage, it will also tell you it was a national disaster, the team will be called awful and the manager a failure. what it won't tell you is that they dominated every game, opposition keepers would pull of amazing saves and teams would defend for their lives, they hit the post or cross bar 4 times in three games, once per game. luck its either an ally or a foe, and but for a cm here or a cm there it would of been a different story.

But if this were an England fan writing this about England they'd be accused of "making excuses" 🤣 make it make sense, Germany were shit that tournament, doesn't matter how many times you hit the bar, hitting the net is what sends you through 🤣 and they didn't, so it was a failure.
Kroos is a pretty mellow dude, so seeing him show that much emotion made the moment that much more epic. Even though Germany went out in the group stages that no doubt was one of the most memorable German goals in history.

I woke up my whole neighbourhood with the goal of Kroos. I literally haven't screamed so hard in my life for a football match. Even with Gotze's goal in 2014 vs ARG or Robben's goal vs BVB in CL Final of 2013/Coman's goal in CL Final 2 years ago. I had never been so happy

Germany always starts slow in tournaments, but back then in 2018 when I saw them against Mexico in the first match of the group stage I was like: Yep, this is not the Germany from 2014. They seem slow, stagnant and unmotivated. And my fears proved right in the match against Korea.
they did try in this match but against Korea it was shockingly bad again. Low just continued 5 years too long. Should have stepped back after Euro 2016 where they still played well but were a bit unlucky
For me that game is a World Cup Classic!! I was at the BBC (Bogota Beer Company) in Bogota, somewhere in Chapinero for watching this game with my girlfriend and some german fans back then. I am Austrian but cheering massive for the germans in that game, and the final free kick from Kroos i will never forget in my whole life. For me Germany still played really well in 2022. They show attractive football but somehow it’s hard for them to keep composure against weaker teams.
