      +Halsey “B” R Yep. In the original books, each part of oz has a color theme, and Glinda is the witch of the south which has a red theme, so I guess they decided to equate that to the stereotypical aspect as it relates to black people. For what its worth, the watermelon thing was only in the 1984 version. Not in the film or in the original 1975 version.

      magicamadeye From what I understand, the stereotype comes from when the slaves were freed and had very little job opportunities to support themselves, so they sold crops, in particular watermelon. White people used that as an image in a stereotypical fashion (the watermelon things literally goes back centuries) and it kind of stuck with us through the centuries. It is ridiculous though.
