So true of so many of us who have similar dreams. I was one, and have been "lucky" enough to realise those dreams. So beautiful and so true.
Pauline never looked more beautiful than she did in this scene. Such a gem of an actress - she was perfect for the role.
A masterpiece...never gets old, corny but quite wonderful. So many memorable scenes...I imagine many were moved by this simple story.
One of my most favorite comedies of all times.

I think this is one of the saddest scenes. Dreams are never the same in reality. You can build something up, an ideal of what will make you happy, but when realised it is rarely the same, disappointment.
It is also a turning point in the movie, for her liminality, where she is between 2 worlds- her old life of drudge and subservience and whatever will happen next.
Absolutely ! One of the most powerful lines ever written. We all dream, crave, strive towards something. And then, when we have it . . .it's not how we thought it would be, so what then ? "I knew exactly how I'd feel. But now that I'm here, I don't feel that at all. I just feel rather daft & very old". . Chokes me up every time I watch it.

@@baybeegalkk It was one of the main reasons why I visited Mykonos, we found the hotel and taverna on our last day, beautiful little island. Must be a beautiful place to live.
