  • Sacramento has become one of the hottest spots, thanks to its affordable real estate. Nurses, in particular, are flocking here for the lower cost of living, while still earning wages comparable to most Bay Area hospitals.
In this video, Monica and I take a tour of an apartment for rent in Midtown Sacramento. Come along with us and see what makes this place stand out!

great video. i live here in sac i pay about $2.5k for 2 bed 2 bath with washer and dryer almost 1k sq ft. nice one. for anyone who moves to sac, dont be expecting to pay $1500 for rent, expect to pay atleast 2k-2.5k. LVNs and RNs both can afford it. im an LVN but i have other additional sources of income. so im never broke here.

just moved from NYC in August. Renting in Folsom now for 2k/month which is very affordable compared to what we paid in NYC. been impossible landing a job at sutter/kaiser/UCD and even local dignity though. took an offer to work in grass valley dignity for now and hoping I can get something closer in the next few months. worse comes to worst hopefully I can internally transfer to a dignity in sacramento.

Soon we will have nowhere to actually build ourselves up lol... Crazy to see that I rent the same thing, even better because of 2 underground parking spots and storage lock up, only for 1029 USD (but it is in Canada) with income of 4,800 USD. Granted though income over there is higher, but considering that ratio, it's expensive. Other than the high price of the apartment in the video, I think the railroad (or metro) so close to the building and windows would ruin the sleep after shifts or on the weekends. Would be cool to see other apartments in the $2000 range there.

Lived in Sac from 1996-2010. The best area at the time for me was Rocklin and Folsom. I was in my 20's-30's and social life was important. Although Rocklin and Folsom didn't have much of a nightlife at the time, it was still very convenient to drive to downtown and South Sac (where all the good Asian restaurants are located). Moved out of Sac in 2010 to Fremont then Laguna Beach. Not sure how things are now, but not a place I would ever want to move back to. BUT if I have to choose, definitely Folsom or Rocklin. Great for family, and also a short drive to nightlife if you're single or couple with no kids.

Hi, I follow you guys. I'm a Filipina nurse who just passed my NCLEX. I have family in CA. My sister is in Campbell. I could stay with her for a bit until I can get my own place. Would it be hard for foreign nurses to get nursing jobs in Cali? (I'm not picky, I can even accept a Nursing Home job if necessary. I just want to make sure that I can afford to live there. I don't mind finding the tiniest, cheapest studio as long as it's in a safe area). I have another option from an agency to work in NY for $40 - is that enough to live off of since I don't have family there? Your input would be highly appreciated. Thanks! I am such a nurse, we came from So Cal but getting back to Ao Cal again. If you can handle 5 month strong heat out of year, allergies due to dry climate and pollens, then it will be your gem. UC Davis and Sutter Roseville are my experiences and so far is good. Weather and food here is nothing like So Cal. We are moving back by the beach again in So Cal and difference is like $10/hr but I would rather take weather and so cal has way more employment opportunities especially aesthetic nurse side gigs.

The statistics show that Sacramento (the city, not the greater Sacramento area) is diverse but when you consider the diversity of food, things to do, things to see, climate, etc... It is LACKING.
