    I have an Arc and I’m going to say this.
    The bond is the best edc mt you can have imo, it has a fantastic range of tools, nothing you will not need, it’s well built, simple to clean, simple to maintain, if I lost my arc I would definitely buy a bond over any other Mt.

    Hi, great video.
    3 years on and I have just purchased the Bond and Leatherman have tweaked the Bond and the knife blade no longer has the play whilst folded. So all is good. I still wish they had put scissors on the Bond but as a U.K citizen, I appreciate the non locking blade and under 3" length making it legal carry.

    Having the wave I see no need to move backwards.
    If I had no multitool and I needed one to carry every day and the blade issue was fixed I might consider the bond as an inexpensive alternative.
    I started my mt journey with the Carolina multitool, then the mp 400 and then one day was introduced to the wave 2nd gen, I gave away my other multitools and bought the wave and haven't looked back since, while it stays in my bag with a bit kit and other small tools, the wave proved again and again it's worth, the file, saw, can opener and interchangeable bits on hand in one tool was the savior daily in my job as an international overseas packer where much of the clients furniture, bicycles and large toys had to be taken apart or broke down into smaller or flatter components to fit in containers for shipment on a boat where size of the shipment is critical.
    Having the wave in my bag saved me from walking down or up a lot of stairs to get tools in a shared toolbox.
    I just don't see the samen usefullness in the free series or the bond.
    The wave, charge and surge are king in that court with no competition.

    The bond is a great edc companion, at work I either carry a st 300 or or a gerber mp600 blunt nose(which is perfect for me,I'm an ironworker/welder) the bond is perfect for auxiliary carry with a good pocket knife

    Wanted a Leatherman for years but you can't EDC a locking blade in the UK, even on a multitool. Now I've finally ordered my Leatherman. The smaller size is a plus for most of my multitool uses, would have liked a notching saw but I can just throw a Victorinox Camper in my rucksack and I'm good. Good price too!

      I've got a Supertool 300 and a Rebar with the leather sheath option and I like that Rebar a lot. The sheath is more smaller fitted than the nylon version. So I find if I have it on my belt sitting towards my backside but off to the side I can completely forget its there. Even when I sit in my car it's just small enough to be in the open space and not get in the way of me or the car seat. With the Supertool 300 it's always in the way and heavy.

      @@ChrispyThings I don't know what the pricing history is over the past 10 months. I'm merely pointing out that, today, this is a tool you're not going see on the shelves for under $50, so the answer to the hed today would have to be no.
      I wouldn't question the motives behind hed verbiage. But if a person DID intend to mislead, it would probably go unnoticed since likely less than 10% of viewers are actually in the market for the specific product, and probably only half of THOSE are going to check the price.
      Most just like to see what is out there, compare it to what they have, and reminisce about how they had no problems whatsoever with the way all the blades folded under pressure with that PST they got back in 1991. :)

    Without the blade issue others talk about, I think that Bond costs too much comparing, for example to Rebar. In this case, Bond should be about $35-38 with the clip included. Basically, one can easily buy Rebar for about the same price as Bond or even cheaper. I am one of those people. I wanted Bond, but bought Rebar because in my opinion it's kinda stupid to buy Bond if for about the same money I could buy Rebar. I understand that let's say in England this may not make sense because of the knife law, but I don't live there.

    • @simonh6371
      @simonh6371 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm in the UK and have both the Rebar and the Bond. Firstly here the pricing of the 2 differs a bit, the cheapest Rebar I can find online is £70, for a Bond it's £53. I like the Rebar in many ways - the pliers are a lot sturdier than on the Bond but on the other hand the mid part of the pliers on the Bond isn't obstructed by the removable wire cutters like it is on the Rebar so in fact the Bond is better for dealing with nuts and bolts. Also in all fairness the saw on the Rebar is pretty flimsy, it's thinner and shorter than even the small saws on Swiss Army knives, and I can take or leave the extra blade on the Rebar, I always carry some kind of knife as well as a multitool anyway. But yeah if you can get the Rebar for the same money as the Bond, it makes sense to buy it. In my case I bought the Rebar for the same price as the Bond on sale, but before the Bond was released. Very happy with both, the Rebar is part of my outdoor gear (if hiking/camping/bushcrafting we can carry a locking blade or fixed blade, just not on your belt unless you're actually in the forest somewhere remote) and I can carry the Bond as an urban EDC with no worries. The detente on the tools including the knife blade on the Bond is crazy strong anyway, stronger than on any slipjoint knife I own and I only own slipjoints with strong springs. LM seem to have resolved the issue of the tip of the knife blade protruding from the handle.

    • @vladspb_
      @vladspb_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@simonh6371 to be honest, if there is no money issue, I would prefer Bond as my EDC. It just happened that my Rebar cost me less than I could get Bond for. And I don't really need a locking blade

    • @simonh6371
      @simonh6371 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vladspb_ If I weren't constrained by our laws prohibiting carrying a locking blade, I'd probably have spent the extra on a Wave and/or one of the Victorinox i.e. Swisstool or Spirit. Like I said the Rebar is great and it's very compact, but it's a shame it has no pocket clip, I've added one to my Bond (the Free pocket clip) but even without it I was suprised to find I could easily fit it into the 5th pocket on my jeans. It works well paired up with a SAK to provide the scissors and/or saw which it lacks.

    Nice. But isn’t this going backwards?? No outside tools ? To each their own. How about bringing back the squirt series or a more pocket friendly tool. Enough full sized models already.

    • @ChrispyThings
      @ChrispyThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not necessarily going backwards I’d say. . More of a stripped down affordable full size model based off of their original PST.

      @@ChrispyThings I see your point. Still love to see a smaller more pocket friendly multi tool like my beloved juice s2

    • @simonh6371
      @simonh6371 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardnoseworthy4031 The Bond is a lot more heavy duty than the Juice, I liked the form factor of the Juice but most of the tools except for the pliers looked pretty mediocre on it, weird shaped small knife blade, crappy scissors etc. and when there were still a few available here on sale in the UK, they were double the price of the Bond. A few months ago I saw a Juice S2 in a hardware shop here in London, for £94, the Bond cost me £47 on sale. I pair it up with a Vic Farmer X (also cost £47) if I want a full toolset and the tools I have are as good as it gets in the multitool world. Don't regret not buying the Juice, although perhaps I should have done and sold it at a higher price as they are sought after since they're discontinued.

    Nice review of the Bond (ie: updated PST). I was looking at my original PST. A lot of the comments on the Bond lead me to believe that people really are getting dumber/more entitled as time goes on. My original PST has the same issue with the knife blade tip raising like the Bond. I've known a good many people over the years (mostly Army) that have carried this MT and never had an issue cutting themselves. I have carried mine quite a bit (prefer the one hand Gerber pliers on the 600) and never cut myself that way. I do have the Bond on my list. Thank you again for the really nice review.

    • @ChrispyThings
      @ChrispyThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I doubt anyone would really cut themselves on the blade, I just wanted to make everyone aware of the issue…as small as it is.
      Thanks for watching!

    • @AJHart-eg1ys
      @AJHart-eg1ys 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. When I was in the Army, we all had the PST. The design regarding the blade was horrible then, and the one for the Bond is almost as bad. We rarely cut ourselves, but the blade folded down constantly, making it only marginally valuable.
      It's not really a matter of being dumb or entitled. It's Leatherman having the technology to have the blade lock in something like the Blast, discontinuing it, then basically taking a step BACK toward the PST with the Bond. I've got my father's PST (which I bought him when I was in the Army) in front of me. The blade has no edge to peak of at this point, and there's a little bit of play in the hinge, but it's otherwise solid. Just slap a set of locks on the original PST and put it out as the bridge product between the small and large tools for $45. Don't make the it with the same flaws, call it a limited edition and charge $100.
      I didn't realize until this evening how much smaller (other than length) it is than the current standard-sized Leathermans. I'd jump at the chance to get one with locks at that price point.

    And no law in Europe is gonna have anything to do with inches, I know some places has a 6cm (just over 2") limit, and the Bond is over that.
