They chose the dice roll method for seed generation then only used once dice roll, generating one of six possible wallets, all of which are obviously monitored by those in the know looking to steal. In this case the complexity of cold card was the enemy.

Mathew could you please do a video on entropy as once I receive my CC I plan to set this up since im now more paranoid then ever about any manufacturer ever trying to control my funds
Amazing content Matt. Can you please do a video on using Coldcard and Sparrow wallet? Is Sparrow the recommended desktop interface when using a Coldcard?
A year or so ago I wanted to sell my ethereum because I could tell the market was about to tank. I had my Trezor on me as I was traveling. Well Trezor updated its ethereum wallet and wouldn't let me access it unless I installed the update. I did so and it crashed, bricking the Trezor. I could not access my bitcoin or anything else on that wallet. I eventually was able to get access back when.I got access to my seed -- after the market had already crashed. Stupid. Here is the thing -- the ethereum network is so complicated that it is constantly demanding these kind of updates. -- and with each one is a chance for something to go wrong.
He is ABSOLUTELY correct. I spoke with James Lopp and asked why couldn’t Ledger just have done a simple multi-sig service for the same price… two ledgers… still gets the service revenue…. Easy. But why didn’t they? Answer: COIN “SUPPORT.” If ledger did a multi sig they’d need to support the 1000s of shipcoins too. Operational risk. Security risk. Matt is correct - a BTC only wallet is actually significantly safer, literally. That said, would love to see BTC only wallets offer multi sig services at some point. Vertical integration would be a value-add to all for those slightly outside of being able to do it themselves fully.
You will be surprised how easy the cold card wallet is. Once you do it a few times, you will get a hang of it. Btc sessions does a great job walking you through the process.

People seem to forget that the reason hardware wallets where created in the first place is so that you don't have to store your keys on your computer (or someone else's computer). Why don't we want to store our private keys on our computer? Because our computer has lots of other crap on it that may or may not be safe. You want your hardware wallet to do one job and one job only.
If you don't want to invest in a HW wallet, just use Electrum or Sparrow wallet on a up to date OS and create the seed phrase while being offline from the internet and jot the 12 (24) words down on a piece of paper. To receive BTC, use the xpub of the wallet and create another watch-only wallet. This watch only wallet (xpub) allows you to generate new receiving addresses and can be online like a hot wallet. No risk to expose your seed! To spend, you can just go online while broadcasting a transaction signed with the wallet that has the seed phrase!
Thanks Matt, loving your vids. i've converted pretty much all of my coins to BTC now. In regard to Jade, i'm in the uk - is it ok to order form Amazon, or should i go direct to source?
Always buy a hardware wallet directly from the source. Buying through a middleman introduces massive risk. I know so many people who have been burned by this.
BitBox02, Foundation Passport, KeepKey, Keystone, and a few other hardware wallets have Bitcoin only versions. The more wallets you have to spread your Bitcoin the better.
My problem with your premise here, is that Ethereum is also an excellent store of value, and the closest thing to BTC, as far as success goes. So I have both BTC and ETH, therefore the Bitcoin only wallet leaves me exposed. So do you have an answer for this situation? And I would argue that you're correct with most of the other crap coins, but ETH has NEVER been a crap coin, and therefore I believe it's a great asset to hold to compliment your BTC.
Matt, I would like to know your opinion on Liquid Network. I'd consider Jade to be one of the best Bitcoin only wallets around. It supports liquid network and lightning soon. Now with Boltz has made atomic swaps between Liquid and Lightning possible, the realm of possibilities is opening up. For instance channel rebalancing for A lightning node is now cheaper than ever. Anyways, I'd love to hear what you have to say about liquid. I like that I can self custody on liquid much easier than lighting as an end user while also taking advantage of 1 minute blocktimes and much cheaper transactions.

How do you feel about the Bitcoin only BitBox02? Swiss made over being made in china like the Jade
Anyone else having issues trying to send Bitcoin from Ledger to Jade? Im getting “Sorry, connection failed”
What do you think of BitBox? It's also open-source and available as Bitcoin-only. Not related to them, just curious.
I have a BitBox02 bitcoin only version. It is just as good as Jade and Coldcard which I have as well.
The don't smoke crack line got me, died laughing.
My man Matt!
I mean Jade sounds super complex to me VS say a Trezor, with the camera feature, bluetooth connection, battery, ability to mine on it etc
How about Trezor's bitcoin-only firmware?
Matthew, can we change from one wallet to another with same recovery key?
