HI Marie, I've been watching your videos for a good long time and love them. I have a suggestion for getting your lotion into the bottle. Instead of using a funnel I put the cool lotion into a plastic zip lock bag and cut a corner and squeeze it into the bottle. No mess and all of it gets in the bottle. Keep up the videos, love you!
Hi Marie, just stop by letting you know that you are such a huge inspiration for me to make body cream, serums, facial cream. Now I’m very obsessed with them. And because of you I have some weird stuffs staring at me like , you do know how to use us?? Why did you get us and let us sit like bunch of potatoes…. Oh well. I keep getting stuff till I’ve lost tracks what are they for already. Your formulas are stunning and could be easily extended to other new formulas. Thank you for sharing cheers!!!❤🎉
I made mine with almond oil, which has vitamin E, and other great vitamins too. I just made my very first all time favorite lotion ever. And.....I used less oils. It was a little harder, but amazing!!!! I used a couple of secret ingredients. ;-)
Amazing. Actually if u could make the Lush "Sleepy" lotion (which is not in stock anymore) I would die!! 😭😭😭🙏🏻. Also could you do a "get to know me" video. I'd love to know how you got into DIYing your own cosmetics and what u do for a living and stuff. ❤️😊
I've been looking for a channel Ike this. I have fibromyalgia and I'm trying to find natural ways to moisturize my skin so I'm not putting toxic chemicals on me. From what I'm researching these additives can make fibromyalgia worse. You just got a new sub!
Welcome! Don't forget to check out my blog (humblebeeandme.com/)-I've been blogging for over 5 years while I’ve only been on TH-cam for one, so there is TONS more content on the blog!
Hi Marie! Thanks so very much indeed 4 ur tutorials n ur kind heart 4 sharing ur knowledge 2 d world. I request u 2 come up with some de tan products which I'm sure many people who live in hot climate will love n appreciate. Thanks in advance. As always lots of love and hugs. 💏❤👍👏
I also mix up my ingredients, sometimes I use beeswax. I don't use all she mentioned because I go all organic, and yes, it stays! I have had one mason jar for just about 6 months now. It's almost gone.
You can substitute it, but I wouldn't recommend making aloe vera juice more than 20% of the recipe as it does create a preservation challenge. Also, make sure you are using cosmetic grade aloe vera juice, not food grade!
I'm wondering if we could preserve water based products like toners with straight up silver beads, I know for a fact silver works in preserving raw MILK!!!! so why wouldn't it work for distilled water or hydrosols etc
Wonderful video... but most importantly what is the lip product you're wearing in the intro?! It looks amazing... and I'm sure it's one of your own creations : )
Thanks, Robin! The lipstick is one I modified from my Moon Drops (th-cam.com/video/aYlvAD6gqGE/w-d-xo.html)-I added 1/32 tsp Red #7 to one of 'em... one of the bronzey ones. I don't remember which one haha, but I sure like the end result!
You can incorporate some cosmetic grade aloe vera-learn more about that here: www.humblebeeandme.com/project/aloe-vera/ You could also incorporate some rose water, but keep in mind the rose scent will mingle with the pre-existing cocoa/vanilla scent. You can replace the e-wax with Olivem 1000, but the cetyl alcohol should be replaced with another thickener or more cocoa butter. Happy making!
Thanks! That lippy is a mod on my www.humblebeeandme.com/highlighting-moon-drops/-I've got a video on the precise details coming out at the end of the month :)
Hi Marie. Do we really need to use a stick blender when using an emulsifying wax ? I thought emulsifiers are supposed to replace the mechanical effect?
Nour Nour Emulsifying wax helps to bring oil and water together. Immersion blender helps to bring the ingredients together quickly. You can do it by hand, but it would take much longer. Immersion blender also provides better blending.
yes, you are sweet, and funny and SMART. I made this lotion, which is more like a cream and it feels wonderful on my face. could you have some face cream/lotion using HYALURONIC ACID? thanks for all the wonderful videos and your book.
Hi, I'm a new subscriber both here and via blog. I do want to add that I love your videos! I was wondering on what the measurements would be for a bigger batch. Also, how big was the bottle you put it in? And could you put a link to find the ingredients?
Sam Matipa This is 8 ounces of lotion or so. 120ml is 4 ounces, 240 is 8 ounces, etc. To batch up, you can double the recipe or learn to work in percentages so sizing is easier.
Have you checked the description box? The link in there that leads to the blog contains all kinds of links and more info. It's so much easier to put links on the blog! Cynnara is right about the measurements :)
You should never just add ingredients to a recipe-you need to swap one thing for another to keep the recipe in balance. So, you'd need to choose a fat to reduce by 4g to replace with the stearic acid.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no-it doesn't really bother me, but Susan has a great article on it (read the comments, too): swiftcraftymonkey.blogspot.ca/2009/08/soaping-effect-insert-dramatic-chord.html It's not just the emulsifiers; other ingredients can also contribute :)
Mine came out very liquid. It is not thick at all. I used all exact measurements except the mixer. I don't have that mixer you have. I used a regular mixer. Is this the problem?
If it was mostly cool it should be fine if it's in the bottle, just don't cap it until it's totally at room temperature. If it's still warm when you cap it you'll get condensation that isn't preserved, which can cause your lotion to spoil.
Making this now and am replacing the cocoa bioferment with hydrolized silk (hopefully that's what I have. It is Silk Peptide). I think I may have realized too late that perhaps I should have added this to the water or oil phase. Please help me save this recipe. Can I add this in the cool down phase even though it's a powder? Thank you!
I don't think I was meaning to say polysorbate it's a powder form that can get let yellowish and I can't think of the name foods to preserve food and now people are using it in recipes
Liquid Germall Plus is more concerning to me than parabens. It's formaldehyde-releasing, and while the concentration is kept low enough that it's better than the bacteria it's stopping, formaldehyde does cross-link DNA and increase cancer risk. Whereas as far as I can tell, short-chain hydrophilic parabens don't have any way they could cause cumulative damage to humans.
@@stancexpunks yes, people's concern is parabens mimicking hormones (specifically estrogen). But repeated small exposures to estrogen don't combine into serious damage over time. There's a tiny amount of natural estrogen in milk and no one's worried that they'll get cumulative toxic effects from drinking milk every day.
😂 I remember watching the Gilmore Girls special scenes and the actresses said they needed speech therapy to speak as quickly as their characters needed to and not really understanding why lol. I didn't even think they spoke that quickly haha!

Hey Cindy! I hate wasting plastic like that, so I'm a-ok with the funnel method :)

Woo! Enjoy :)
Hi Marie! Just to be double sure. Total of this formulation is about 107.5grams( 20drops~0.5g). Thank you!😊
you are such a dork and LOVE you to bits 😂. I'll have to try this one
Thanks, Veronica! :D
Ur personality is the best!

Thanks for watching!
Love you Marie. Your recipes are awesome. 💕
Thank you so much! ❤️

Do you mean you aren't using preservatives? Or emulsifiers? Because if you aren't using a preservative that is really, really unsafe!
I have a similar question substituting the water part for Aloe Vera juice! Thanks
You can substitute it, but I wouldn't recommend making aloe vera juice more than 20% of the recipe as it does create a preservation challenge. Also, make sure you are using cosmetic grade aloe vera juice, not food grade!
Can you please make a cream for face which is chemical free for acne? Emulsifying wax is harsh for face?
Hello Marie I've been watching your videos for a good long time and love them :) Can I use Aloe vera juice instead of the distilled water ?
Thanks, Serra! I wouldn't use all aloe juice instead of water; it makes the lotion harder to preserve. I'd swap ~20g water for aloe vera juice :)
Humblebee & Me Thanks Marie 😃
Where can I buy Optiphen plus in the Uk?
I'm wondering if we could preserve water based products like toners with straight up silver beads, I know for a fact silver works in preserving raw MILK!!!! so why wouldn't it work for distilled water or hydrosols etc

Can Optiphen Plus be used instead of Germall Plus? Also can I use Stearic Acid to thicken the lotion?
Yup!
Can use fresh aloevera juice and rose water..And can i replace ewax and cetyl alcohol with olivem1000
You can incorporate some cosmetic grade aloe vera-learn more about that here: www.humblebeeandme.com/project/aloe-vera/

I am gonna make this!! :D love the lipstick you are wearing, wonder what shade it is?

They don't replace it, but you can get away without it-you'll just end up with a much more stable, uniform final product if you use high shear mixing.
yes, you are sweet, and funny and SMART.
I made this lotion, which is more like a cream and it feels wonderful on my face.
could you have some face cream/lotion using HYALURONIC ACID? thanks for all the wonderful videos and your book.
Thanks! If you would like to buy me some hyaluronic acid I would love to work with it :)
Instead of liquid germa plus what can I use ?
Hey! You'll find the answer to your question in my FAQ on my website at humblebeeandme.com/faq/ 😊Happy making!
How do emulsified lotions hold up in warmer weather? I make myself butters in the winter. I have a pound of emulsifying wax I've been dying to use.
Pam Phinney I live in FL and emulsified lotions are fabulous! They're light yet so soothing.
They always do just fine for me-the only thing I can think of is that you extra special definitely need a preservative as they'll spoil faster :)

Humblebee & Me I did afterwards :)
also, is the hand blender needed? could I just use a mixing bowl?
Marie has answered the same question up above that Nour Nour asked, but no it isn't imperative, just easier.
Can I add (not substitute) stearic acid to this? Say about 4 grams?
You should never just add ingredients to a recipe-you need to swap one thing for another to keep the recipe in balance. So, you'd need to choose a fat to reduce by 4g to replace with the stearic acid.

Thanks Pam-happy making!
Hi can you help me ... how can i do lighting lotion or what can i put ?
Sorry, nope: www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/kind-recipes-will-not-appear-humblebee/
Are you experiencing the soaping effect with any of the emulsifiers?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no-it doesn't really bother me, but Susan has a great article on it (read the comments, too): swiftcraftymonkey.blogspot.ca/2009/08/soaping-effect-insert-dramatic-chord.html It's not just the emulsifiers; other ingredients can also contribute :)
how about almond flour or milk powder? as a option
I probably wouldn't do almond flour, but milk powder would dissolve just like the colloidal oats, so that would be nice :)
Mine came out very liquid. It is not thick at all. I used all exact measurements except the mixer. I don't have that mixer you have. I used a regular mixer. Is this the problem?
If you used Polawax or E-wax NF and didn't use a high-shear mixer it will take a couple days to come to full thickness :)
I totally bottled not room temperature lotion. Cool at most but totally not room temperature. Will I die?
I hope I didn't denature it! ☹️
If it was mostly cool it should be fine if it's in the bottle, just don't cap it until it's totally at room temperature. If it's still warm when you cap it you'll get condensation that isn't preserved, which can cause your lotion to spoil.
Where can we find the jars

You can add it during cool down, but it is better to add it to a heated phase to reduce contamination concerns.
how bout polysorbate?
citric acid
What about them? Neither are suitable alternatives for any of the ingredients in this recipe.
I do see some lotions and some things with those ingredients I it that's why I was asking
I don't think I was meaning to say polysorbate it's a powder form that can get let yellowish and I can't think of the name foods to preserve food and now people are using it in recipes
i kinda wanna be your friend

I thought the fear about parabens is concerning their effect on our hormones/endocrine system / reproductive system

Gentrified cocoa butter
I start laughing when you have bought stuff that I'm thinking on buying. That's so not good. Then again, I'm becoming a Lotioncrafter junkie.
Sorry? 😈 I wish I had easy access to Lotioncrafter! Pretty sure my bank balance is glad I don't, though 😝
Man esta chica habla como a mil por hora!!! La adoro, pero DANG!!!!!! She thousand miles an hour! 😏😏😏😏😏

for the first 2 minutes, I didn't know what she was talking about. thank you tho
