In junior high, a neighbor girl came over and brought a friend with her. For whatever reason, the friend disclosed to me that her father was sexually abusing her and held her and her mother captive in the house, only allowing her to go to school. I told my mom immediately and she called the police. They investigated and charged the father. We had driven by her house for years, not knowing who lived there and noticed all the windows were boarded up, never realizing that abuse was happening. I lost track of her over the years, and I just want to say:. Jenn, I hope you have a beautiful life and always feel safe and loved. I'm proud of you for being brave. You saved yourself and your mom. Bless you.

if you hear screaming, banging, threats, crying or people appear scared and malnourished CALL SOMEONE. Better to get it wrong than find out years later that you didn't save the person when you could have. be nosy. be a light shining on to darkness. don't help the abuser to continue. It is your business.

    • @daviddaddy
      @daviddaddy ปีที่แล้ว +16

But what if you call and police find nothing and it infuriates the abuser to the point he ends the victim or victims? It happens more than you would think. Its a very slippery slope. But also could fix things, but also make them way worse.

I've asked my students something similar to this question (I teach high school criminal justice). Sadly nearly all of them say "I ain't no snitch!" Their main argument being they don't want to be a target if the criminal/suspect knows they've been called out.
It's sad to learn that most of them side with the criminal over the victim... unless it happens to them!

What she said was NOT intended nor was it understood by anyone that you PURPOSELY BE UNAWARE of your surroundings, IGNORE someone in need, NOT to ask for help, or to HIDE ABUSE within the family. She TWISTED the statements to go with the agenda at hand.
She knew well when she was told that, when she heard that, and by whom it was said that it was the rules of GOOD BEHAVIOR. You do NOT INTERRUPT CONVERSATIONS, do NOT INSTIGATE DRAMA WHETHER IT BE WITH ADULTS, SIBLINGS OR CHILDREN WHO HAPPEN TO BE AROUND, PAY ATTENTION AND LISTEN... if your mouth is steadily running YOU ARE NOT LISTENING... LISTEN AND YOU LEARN. AND YOU DO NOT BEG, PITCH FITS, HOUND ANYONE FOR ANYTHING .. EVEN AT GRANDMA'S HOUSE. ADULTS will ask you if you want a drink, eat, ice cream, watch tv, play outside, play with certain toys... IF THEY HAVE IT FOR YOU OR HAVE ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE ELSE TO ALSO HAVE SOME.
This also goes along with "what happens in the house stays in the house". Damn straight. You screw up, you are disciplined... You accept that discipline, learn from it and don't do it again. WHY? Because kids are MANIPULATIVE... WHEN ALLOWED TO EVADE THOSE DISCIPLINARY CONSEQUENCES those same manipulative children become even WORSE adults become MANIPULATIVE ADULTS... THUS WHAT WE HAVE PRESENTLY BURNING BUILDINGS, BUSINESSES, DESTROYING PEOPLES PRIVATE PROPERTY, DOXING AND HARASSING PEOPLE WHO DON'T THINK THE SAME AS THEY DO... ENTITLED LITTLE @SSHOLES WHO'S PARENTS DID NOT INSTILL (make them learn) RESPECT, LOYALTY, HONOR, INTEGRITY, ETC (either voluntarily/easy non evasive or by force/non voluntarily aka painful method...) Now that they are adults it is entirely too late for the non evasive method to be successful.Truth hurts and they are too stupid to realize it.. BUT as I was saying... Manipulative children and adults CONVENIENTLY OMIT EVERYTHING that THEY DID TO DESERVE being disciplined. They WILL NOT tell the entire story as it REALLY went. The SOLE PURPOSE behind them (both children and adults) seek out and tell "THEIR VERSION" to anyone else OUTSIDE THE HOME/JURISDICTION IS TO EVADE BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE, GAIN UNDESERVED SYMPATHY, RALLY UP VINDICTIVE PUNISHMENT FOR THOSE WHO HELD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. They do NOT CARE about RIGHT OR WRONG. they merely are concerned with GETTING AWAY WITH WHATEVER THEY WANT WHEN THEY WANT IT.
She knows this, we all know this. The b.s. she spewed is NOT the reality of it. Children who are brought up the way I was which DID ENTAIL "SIT DOWN AND HUSH UP, SPEAK WHEN SPOKEN TO, DO NOT ASK FOR ANYTHING, YOU LOOK TO ME (DADDY) FOR A YES OR NO IF YOU'RE OFFERED ANYTHING, KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF, IF ITS NOT YOURS YOU DO NOT TOUCH IT, DO NOT LIE, DO NOT PITCH A FIT, NO WHINING, CRYING OR COMPLAINING,YOU WILL BE RESPECTFUL AND WATCH YOUR TONE AND WHAT YOU SAY...ALWAYS YES MA'AM, NO MA'AM., YOU HAD BETTER NOT 'START IT... BUT YOU HAD BETTER FINISH IT', WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS HOUSE, STAYS IN THIS HOUSE." Did not hide abuse, did not make my sister & I weak or timid, or skilled liars. In fact the opposite. Neither of us will lie about anything, we both stay fully aware of our environments, perceptiveness happens to be among our strongest attributes, we have always learned quickly due to WE LISTEN...and if we see that someone is in ANY NEED we step up right then and there to help...without judgement. Let a p.o.s. wrong another in our presence...THEY HAD BETTER BE RIGHT WITH JESUS, HE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT WILL BE ABLE TO HELP THEM.

I don't understand what goes in some men's heads, that makes them want to make women prisoners. I was in a brief relationship with a man who showed red flags of wanting to do that to me; we were both living and working in a foreign country but I knew our community was quite safe so often went out my myself with no problems or worries, but he wanted me to never go out after dark by myself and would freak out when I did; then it became, I shouldn't even go out by myself in the daytime because I might get raped or kidnapped even in broad daylight. I told him that was nuts, that I had to work and often had to take the bus to a different campus to teach and wouldn't get back home until well after dark, but then he would get even angrier and say my employers should provide me with an escort. Crazy stuff like that. He also became very verbally abusive, and would threaten to harm himself. He was brilliant and very charming initially, but he was a broken soul. I ended that relationship quickly. It's a control thing with some men; they can't trust women, probably because they're damaged from child abuse or abandonment. But they can become very dangerous.

I love that ppl are finally calling out the actual problem with men here. Wayyy too many times have these conversations been derailed by some asshat screaming “WOMEN TOO!!!” with their whataboutism bullsh!t. Like yeah some women are predators or whatever but the ratio of male to female predators is DRASTICALLY different and it has to do with socialization and the patriarchal society we live in. A lot of ppl can’t accept that fact and desperately want to prove that women are just as bad as men and while there are a few who can be, most women just don’t do the things men do on the massive scale that men do it. Men are some of the most violent, sexually exploitative creatures towards women and it needs to be studied. There’s a reason most ppl feel safer with a female than a male. It’s time to name the problem. I’m tired of the “not all men” garbage. Yes all men bc you can’t know who is good and who isn’t. Too many husbands have turned on their wives of 10+ years to be trusted. Women don’t get that same luxury. Whenever one woman does something it’s always “why are women like this?” it’s never “not all women”
If you don’t believe me just listen to men, look at the way they talk about women when they’re not around, read the forums online and all the deranged disgusting dehumanizing things men say/create about women. Men truly don’t see women as people and hate women a lot and they’ve been showing it since the dawn of time… and while there may be some good men out there, they are few and far between and hardly help women, they just benefit from the worse men out there.

Sadly there are men and women too that become possessive and abusive to the opposite sex or sadly even their children. Hoping they get healed before they do something stupid like this man did.

      CAUTION VIVID, TRUE STORY!!!
I'm from Cincinnati Ohio. And two of my friends (adults, a girl and a guy) got this job offer out in Hollywood California, ended up getting trapped in this sex trafficking ring.
      Wild, Crazy, Sad Story.
This organization sent them money and plane tickets to get out to California Hollywood, where neither of them had ever been previously. They were excited to leave Cincinnati Ohio for a fresh start. At first it totally seemed legit. Well once they got there, after a couple days, they began to realize something was off, just didn't seem right.
They were doing odd jobs and a main job they had was to sell Magazine subscriptions to people by knocking on people's doors. They were also incouraged to get as much information out of people as they could. One of the first red flags, Something that didn't sit well with my friends. Then their told from their "co-workers" that people usually don't even receive the items that they order out if these magazine subscriptions.
Now things being to get really off, by the end of the first week their told That when they wouldn't sell enough items or these magazines, they have to make money other ways. So they started making them do other things.
They said one day in the first week they started feeling weird, like loopy and kid of "out of it". Well they later find out the people were like putting drugs on the hotel doors knobs, and on all the vans door handles that they'd drive them to work in. Everyday and evening their "bosses" or captors, make them listen to music with subliminal messages in it. Eventually they stopped touching things because they noticed their captors always wore gloves.
They stayed in a hotel that was full of these people, they were always watched and not suppose to leave the area on their own.
My friend josh told me the one time he did try to leave to see how far he could get, he said he got across the street to the nearest intersection, before a young Mexican dude ran up to him saying "buddy, buddy, No no no, you can't do that, buddy buddy look they're watching you, I know, I know" look" (in bad English) ... He nodded to across the street and there was a barrel of a big gun pointing in their direction out of the back pop out window of a mini van... It was crazy, he told me.
One time another person being held or trapped there called the police and that when they came the police only went to the front desk of this hotel. And after being told everything was ok, the cops just left. He said the cops were in on it and everything.. one night he decided to volunteer to go do sex work for them, so that his girlfriend didn't have to go that night..
So the captors take him to a different nice fancy hotel, and drop him off with a name and room number.. Well, it was several of rich Asian MEN in the room, and he had to do sex acts with these MEN. for the first time in his life he was with a man, several, at once. ..
he told me how Absolutely dramatizing it was for him!!!.
And he was tough guy, he's been though a lot, very brave and never seen him scared or back down from anyone. We grew up together since like 3rd grade, I've never seen him cry EVER until he was telling me this story. So messed up!!!
I'm the one who picked him up from the airport when he got back to Cincinnati Ohio.
They finally escaped these people with the help of some organization that helps people in those type of situations... they told me that most of the people stuck within this ??? What ever it is, sex trafficking ring??? Most of them are like runaways, or people who are like younger with no family or no where to go, or drug addicts, or homeless, or illegal immigrants who have no option but to stay there.
They feed you, give you a place to live in this hotel, they escort, monitor, watch and drive you anywhere you might need to go or they Make/HAVE you go. It's crazy.
They were being drugged with GHB and other drugs daily , and forced them to listen to music with subliminal messages in it, to try and brain wash them. They said that if anyone had a drug problem like with heroin or whatever, they'd gladly supply you with your dope. You just have to work for them and do what they say.
It's like every morning they'd go out with multiple van loads of people (workers) and of course the gangsters that keep close watch on the workers. And they go driving to different neighborhoods everyday, when they weren't being pimped out, they were supposed to sell these Magazines, like magazine subscriptions. And these magazines sold stuff, just like random stuff I guess. Anyway, alot of the times they would try to get peoples information etc or have people order things that they'd never receive, the money would just be kept by this black market underground organization. Everything was supplies by their captors, food, drugs, hotel rooms, transportation, clothes. Like as if they wanted 100% control over you while you're all the way in California Hollywood with no one you know, like family etc most people stuck in this were not from there, so they were basically lost on top of it all...
      Anyway, yeah. Crazy stuff.
Also, my grandmother has a good friend who's daughter was caught up in something like this , also in California, just a different area. She managed to escape with the help of the same type of SaVIOrs!!!
But my friend and his girlfriend thought this would be a great job and a cool experience going to Hollywood, good way to make some money and eventually come home when ever they had enough. Little did they know they'd be trapped into some forced sex labor organization.
He told me that so many people were involved in keeping these people hush hush it's insane. He said anywhere from Cops, to gangsters, to political figures to rich people, celebrities, hotel owners / workers etc. . His girlfriend said she could totally see how people could get caught up and stuck in that life.. some of the people that were in the same situation as them had been trapped for YeARS!
My friends were there for a like 6 weeks. They actually met someone on their way home who was also traveling and who had just got out of a similar situation..
Scary scary world. So sad.. I seriously couldn't imagine, I know if I was trapped I'd be on as many drugs as possibke to escape reality, and that's why they offer it to them, so that they rely on them more and are more likely to obey and do as told.
It's 2023. FENTANYL is nothing new.
      Esp here in Cincinnati.
It pretty much took the place of heroin here a while ago. Starting around 2015 they began cutting it into the dope supply. Slowly but surely, it eventually BECAME the dope.
Heroin is rare in this part of the country, I can get synthetics like fentanyl in any neighborhood in Cincinnati, Heroin Not anymore. MOST of the heroin dealers either stopped selling opiates or sell fentanyl now. I know a bunch from Covedale to Hyde park, to Colerain to Downtown Covington...
These synthetics are much more dangerous than Heroin ever was. And it raises the users tolerance through the roof.. also Narcan doesn't work as well with the synthetics. I remember back in 2016, 176 people Overdosed on the westside. 176 people in 48 HOURS!!! It was a batch of CARFENTANYL that hit the Pricehill, Covedale, Western hills, Westwood area. People were "dropping like flies".
That type of stuff wasn't happening when Heroin was around. Ask me how I know.. JK. we live in Cincinnati, if you're not opiate dependant yourself, you at least know a few folks who are.
Heroin was more euphoric and kept the user's (opiate dependant ppl) "well" much longer. Meaning they didn't get dope sick as often, and the "high" was usually achievable.
With fentanyl the users HAS to do it much more often, just to keep the sickness at bay.
Not a coincidence that a few years before the USA started pulling out of the middle east, our government started the introduction of man made opioids to the black market. They slowly switched the supply to create a different, yet similar, demand...
So they didnt need the poppy fields in the middle east as much as they use to in ordering to supply their black market opiate supply.
Two of my buddies are Marines, One also being my neighbor. He served 3 tours in the middle east. On two of them, their main goal was to take over and/or protect poppy fields, and just hold position. Hmmmm. Imagine that. Also Told me that it is not out of the ordinary for Marines to became opiate dependant while deployed over there. They said the locals would trade smokeable opium and even heroin to the Marines, for food, water, candy, cigarettes, etc..
      Crazy Right.!!!
Synthetic opiates made in a lab. USA's government didnt need their poppy plants so much anymore to feed our black market opiate supply, part of their reason for leaving. All about $$$...

A man did this to multiple women where I am from. He lives in a trailer as well.
They were addicts so he just offered them drugs or money and when they walked in he would put them in a room and lock them in plus put heavy tall book shelves in front of the door on the outside. He would beat them, give them drugs and rape them for days before letting them go. They were scared to go to court if he was charged because they were told that their pasts and their addictions to crack would be brought up. I begged one of them to do it anyway so he couldn't hurt anyone else, but she wouldn't because she was embarrassed and too scared.
He finally went to prison when he did it to a pregnant woman and she lost the baby. So there are so many reasons why people don't try to escape or report it to the police.

It’s easy even if people do know it goes unnoticed. My sister has a friend who her mother would lock her in her room except for the eight hours that she went to school no bathroom she had a bucket. CPS told her to remove the locks and that was it they never came back to check. We adopted her when she turned 18 so she would have health insurance to get therapy. Her mom had everything sitting on the curb on her 18th birthday her senior year. The worst part was she wasn’t even her biological mom she was her adoptive mother.
