❤️ Roger Healy
Bill Daily said the scene of Roger talking to the wall near Tony's fireplace was one of his favorites, because it proved that he could memorize his lines *and* be funny at the same time, When he appeared in the pilot episode, you'll notice he had very little to say.....and was somewhat nervous in his delivery. That was because he confessed to creator/producer Sidney Sheldon that he couldn't memorize his lines, and tried to improvise his way through them {he explained he had previously been a night club comedian, and often "winged" his way through his routines}. Sidney insisted, "This isn't the 'Improv'! If you want to stay on this show, you're going to have to learn how to memorize your lines.". Bill figured out a way by initially using a portable tape recorder, and listened to his dialogue while driving to the studio every morning. In time, he mastered the art of memorizing, and his role in the series was slowly increased to the point where he became a full-fledged supporting cast member {especially when Roger found out about Jeannie in episode 17}. His nervousness became a part of Roger's character.
