Очень хорошо помню, как смотрела этот фильм первый раз, и как потрясла меня эта сцена. Невероятно красиво и чувственно. Обожаю Нуриева, обожаю Нижинского... Спасибо за клип.
Anthony dowell was a lovely lyrical dancer. Not quite as powerful looking as nureyev but more graceful I think. I first saw this scene following my discovery of nijinsky and I was obsessed with trying to find footage of him . All in vain ofcourse.
At least there's his diary. And his choreographies are still performed. I just saw Petrushka and Rite of Spring yesterday. We can at least see his beautiful mind and soul, if not his dance.
@MilnaAlen his diary has many insights. He almost saw the world through the eyes of a child but with the brain of a man. What others have dismissed as simple minded ravings I see great vision. I myself have mental health problems . It's one of the great attractions I have to nijinsky. The photos of him which are more beautiful and more about the dance as an expressive tool , than any performance I've seen by baryshnikov etc , and that added to the knowledge of his tormented years in and out of hospital , added to the great insights I find in his diary, even the art by his hand which features so many circles. It all adds up to a remarkable man.
Nureyev is playing Valentino. The blond dancer is playing Nijinsky. Moreover, he's Anthony Dowell, now Sir Anthony Dowell, lead male dancer and then director of the Royal Ballet.
I remember this scene.I happen to see this movie when I was child. It was very impressive. Nureyev himself is legend though, this dance is so cool that I cant close my eyes. 夜中にたまたま見た映画でしたが、このシーンがとっても印象的でした。最初はヌレエフさんのことを存じませんでしたが、これで知るようになりました。貴重な映像を残して下さりありがとうございました。
Yes, I read recently that this was one movie Ken Russell said he wished he never did. It was full of things that were exaggerated or completely made up. He was quite disappointed in it I guess.
It is really difficult to tell what a person's sexuality is by their mannerisms alone (especailly when that person is foreign and the media is not exactly clear-those old films did not pick up alot.) There are plenty of really good looking guys out there that are gay or bi, why can't you just be happy with that? It is just wrong to say this about someone that was such a beautiful person inside & out. Rudy deserved the truth, if you honestly appreciate his art, offer him the truth.
@GooglFascists I did not post this in All the Valentino vids, maybe I will get around to the others later, lol. I'm only repeating what I read based on the research of those that seriously researched Valentino's life. I felt compelled to post this info after reading about how Rudy was willing to risk his health & looks in defense of allegations. It is not fair to his memory. As for your friends, they can dream on. People have a tendency to see what they want to believe.
@Prishtinaification this guy is Rudolph Nureyev and he is one of the significant and greatest character in 20th century. Peacefully could you remove your thoughtless comment. pls thank you
Even in the past, the rich lived in better quality than the poor and even a lot of middle class. The quality of just even the buildings and furnishing is exquisite. Also, with slaves to staff, the rich did not have to even wash a dish. Aside, and back to the video..thanks for posting..and wonderful stuff!
@edwardjames50 I don't care about Rudy's sexuality but he did. Please read 'Dark Lover' published a few years ago. That book has been quoted as the most researched book on Valentino. I care about Rudy the artist and kind soul.
@Prishtinaification You are a professional tango dancer and you call "this guy" the most famous male dancer ever ? Sir, we are talking Rudolf Nureyev here...NUREYEV ! And do not read me wrong ; I said the most famous, not the best one.. The best one is surely Julio Bocca or you or any Argentinian ...!
Because most of them were unwatchable, self indulgent twaddle. Trust me, I watched them dutifully as they appeared in the 70s and I wouldn't do it again
@Kathylouu We see you posting this in all the Valentino videos as if your serious denials would somehow change the truth that Valentino was a normal healthy male with a passionate sex drive common to virile males of age 25 in the 1920s. It may be true he wasn't gay or bi, but he wasn't 100% str8 either. I have gay friends who can tell by watching his mannerisms that he wasn't a pure str8 guy, (have no idea how), and probably took all the sex he could get from whatever gender. So what?
@Prishtinaification Sir, your words : "And this guy sucks " Nobody can mention the legendary Nureyev as " this guy " without showing his arrogant ignorance ! Russel never said his movie was a R. Valentino's biography .
According to research done by Emiley Leider who wrote 'Dark Lover' and Zumaya of the Valentino Society, Rudy was neither gay nor bi. I don't care, I have gay and bi friends. There were some books written stating he was, but those authors have been discredited. One was beaten with a baseball bat for publishing something about Evil Knieval (the stuntman) beat him with a bat putting him in the hospital.

Precisión, coordinación, perfección. Bravo Rudolph!
Thank you for posting this wonderful tango scene! I will try to find this movie. I adore Valentino, and Nureyev is such a phenomenal dancer!
Спасибо, рада в вашем лице встретить похожее понимание красоты! :)
And I did not know that Nureyev was such a sport!!! To give "room" to dance to a dancer superior technically to him.....chapeau!
I love this scene in the movie. A classic!

I did not know Nureyev was such a good actor.
Bellissimo!
spaibo!!! krasota! przepieknie! grazu!
So beautiful - love it!
Кен Рассел как всегда великолепен! И этот момент я и сам люблю)
Amazing!
Perfect film!!
I'd almost forgotten about this! How come all the extraordinary films of Ken Russel seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth?
I remember the remarkable composer biopics he did , mahler and the music lovers. Fascinating movies.
What a deluxe pairing, Anthony McDowell and Rudolph Nureyev, doesn't get much better
Tony Dowell (Royal Ballet) not McDowell. That is Malcolm.
lo rivedrei mille volte ...
sir antony dowelln was one of greatest dancers of his time, did, not you noticed how does he dance?
sir antony dowell was one of my favourites
I wanted to say delightfully
I got to admit nureyev is a better dancer then actor. But nureyev looks good and dancing great in this movie.
Never happened but an interesting idea.
Yes, I read recently that this was one movie Ken Russell said he wished he never did. It was full of things that were exaggerated or completely made up. He was quite disappointed in it I guess.
Choreographed by the late Peggy Spencer, MBE, apparently.

Sir Anthony Dowell dances beautifully
He is among the most elegant male dancers of the 20th century.
;.P Espectacular si se hubieran conocido en verdad¡¡
bless him
✨✨
If you believe that Nureyev had no charm, then you haven't seen him dance a ballet. Because he really just oozes it.
Сцена из фильма "Валентино" 1977 года.
@Prishtinaification dowell sir dowell was also in the opinion of rudy a great dancer

@cotelui1 Sir Anthony Dowell, former principal then art director of the Covent Garden Royal Ballet.
@Prishtinaification this guy is Rudolph Nureyev and he is one of the significant and greatest character in 20th century.

@EutuveX we are very grateful to argentina for bocca for guerra and also for yorge donn ,but this prishtinnaification must be drunk

Who is the actor of Nijinsky ?
Ballet Dancer Sir Anthony Dowell. I think he is super as Nijinsky.
Last night we enjoyed nice uncut German sizemeat and got paid 150 Euros on top of it!
Discuss!
@Kathylouu ~ And the TRUTH is that Valentino was nothing short of bisexual, which is well illustrated by his relations with Ramon Navarro.
Rafael Storm Ramon Novarro stated that he barely knew the man.So why would Novarro lie about that.
Rudolpho Valentino = in the movie Rudolf Nurejew
@billyguns2 Yes, but then you would be dead by now so, it's a trade off I guess. :)
