Interesting to hear your comments about losing confidence and being a bit embarrassed about your riding at the moment. I went through something similar about fifteen years back, I was riding stuff that was right on the limit of my abilities and got to the stage where I was putting too much pressure on myself to ride scary (to me) shit. The end result was that I stopped enjoying riding and stopped mountain biking for about ten years. I'm back loving it again now and actually riding better than I was back then (with the help of the amazing modern bike technology) but my rule now is if I don't fancy something I don't do it, no pressure. My only objective is to have fun on my bike whether that's on an easy trail or something near my limit. It's working so far but every so often I have to remind myself that it's supposed to be a leisure activity and I don't need to be constantly pushing myself too hard.
I think the reason I'm so frustrated is because before I stopped riding early last year I was in a great place, both technically and physically. As the fitness disappeared my confidence went with it. It's not me trying to push myself, but more wanting to be where I was. I'm sure that 2020 will be a better year (2019 sucked) and that I'll be back up to speed. But you are quite right, I need to just take it as it comes and not get stressed over it. We're here to have fun after all! 👌
One of the best videod about MTB's ever! Snd one of the best about the Radon Slide! Really great trail, beautiful nature (rocks, trees...) and of course very well riding! Best, Drago
Stick with it fella and don't be so hard on yourself. The fitness and confidence will return. At the end of the day, you're still hitting stuff that many wouldn't dream of doing.
Cheers. Last year was particularly poor fitness wise so I'm looking forward to getting back on my game. I'd rather be struggling in other areas of my riding :)
Hey Nathan, nothing to be ashamed of mate. You made the right decision to control your speed, no hero's when the rider comes off. Tomorrow is a new day, and remember its about the ride and riding with Friends .. Cheers From Downunder
Cheers Man. It was the only decision I could make. I was in no real condition to be descending. The next ride was better/easier, but then it was on the ebike 😂 Hope you and your family are all safe down there!
Saludos!
I did the exact same thing today had to quit the ride after an hour and a half due to back pain and swolen knee, and didnt feel confident at All, even the bike felt really weird, im sure i would have died (crashed)if i continued. One of those days i guess, ill try again tomorow. Nice to see im NOT alone :)
There's nothing worse than being too tired to enjoy a ride, been there myself, having said that, footage was good and a decent vid, fitness will come no doubt and you will enjoy your rides 👍
You are damn straight with your comment regarding the dirt bikers. It’s definitely love hate. I just wish there were more groups in Spain to repair the damage done by those guys. Us as mtb’ers as well but more so in regards to those guys.
I am in Mijas/ you have a free place to stay when you want to film some sweet stuff. I know you know the area. Here there does not appear to be fines. I have seen groups of professionals sometimes making new enduro trials or just doing maintenance. But this area is not like other areas I have lived or ridden in Spain. There is a lot of bike traffic here due to the larger population in a smaller area. The trails are just sick!
Hey! Tough ride but you done it! :-) I am thinking about buying this bike but I am not sure about the "climbing ability" Do you think it is a good climber. Do you think the "flip-chip" makes climbing a little bit easier, when flipped into the "upper" position? Thank you very much for your videos and for a response! Best regards from Germany.
Hi. It’s not a bad climber, but it’s not an XC bike either. The flip chip isn’t something you’ll want to adjust on the fly. It’s more something you setup and leave. It’s not a hassle, but it’s not something I’d do. It’s a very fun bike!
ooh my! you were really fuck! first time that I hear you to say, braking braking braking...hehe That was an old fashion ride, I loved it! when we repeat? It's not 1200m climb it's how they were!! Loose, steep, hike a bike....but It was a cool day! Good video!
Yep, I was beat alright. The technical climbing was tough but I want to repeat that route. I'll use it as a gauge for my fitness. Just a shame that the last descent is in bits.
Looks like you broke yourself. It's tough when you are low on confidence but also physically tired. In fact, it's a perfect recipe for a nasty crash! Don't beat yourself up mate. With a bit more mileage you'll be back to your old self!
Ye, it’s the worst time to be descending. I was lucky to finish without a fall. Need to get that fitness back. I’m confident that this year will see an increase in kilometres.
@@SenderoSeeker Yeah, used to be a dirt biker myself and there are a serious lack of trails here in the UK, so the few ones you can use here are often destroyed by 4x4s and certain hikers in their green whellies would turn up from London once a year and moan about bikers in The Guardian. So I guess nobody loves the one up the ladder but I would never want to discourage someone from getting away from the sofa and going outside to do what they love.
@@bicketybam Haha. Ye I can imagine. In Madrid it's illegal to ride dirt bikes any where other than race tracks. I'm not sure if this is the case for the whole of Spain. You're quite right, there's always one group that has issues with the other. We all think the countryside belongs to us...and that's where the majority of the problems begin... unfortunately.
Could be, but I have been sent the Slide Trail to demo so I need to ride it :) Also, I'm not a huge fan of the ebike it's way to heavy, especially in technical chunk.

Tough day Nathan 😔 but trail looked sweet and the 29er running well 💪👊😁
The 29er was running fine. She wasn’t the problem 😂

Haha. Glad to hear I'm not the only one either! Rest up and I'm sure your next ride will be a blast!
Great effort Mate. That did look like a tough one.
Cheers Mark. Yep, near on 18km of technical climbing got me. But I’m easy prey right now 😉

Ye, hanging on for dear life isn’t the best way to ride ☺️. Appreciate the thumbs up anyway. Got to get that fitness back. Am hopeful for 2020. 🤘

Completely agree. The problem in Madrid is that we’re not allowed to touch the trails. There are huge fines. Where are you based?

Sounds great. I'll no doubt be down that way at some point. I've just bought a motorhome so plan to ride a lot of new places this year ;)
Damn, that is one tough trail. Rockgarden all the way, not really my comfort zone... How do you like the bike, it has some great value it seems

The BEST Enduro trail on Trail bike👌👌🤙🤙
It really is!

Nice vid. we have the same issue with dirt bikes where we are also :)
Thanks. On a personal level I've got nothing against the dirt bikers, just a pisser that they churn up the trails :(

Would it not be better to use your EMTB while you get your fitness and confidence back to where the clockwork bike becomes fun again?
Could be, but I have been sent the Slide Trail to demo so I need to ride it :) Also, I'm not a huge fan of the ebike it's way to heavy, especially in technical chunk.
Does not look like fun to me
