What a true reaction video this was. It was striking to see your emotions change as you recognized what this song was about and also your surprise since you had not seen this side of Dan before. Jesus Christ Superstar is called a rock opera but I think technically it’s more of a musical. Many others have already explained this particular song is about Jesus‘s time in the garden of Gethsemane prior to being arrested. It was a pretty emotional time for Jesus and I think this song and certainly Dan’s performance exemplifies that. While I think I have watched all of your Dan Vasc reactions, it didn’t strike me until this one that you had not seen Dan in all his different iterations - metal, rock, Broadway musical and opera. He even has some acoustic songs. Dan truly is a musical chameleon and his mastery of his voice and the ability to express a song - to live that song - is spectacular. Thank you for a truly heartfelt reaction.
This song, Specifically Dan's portrayal, was the first time I really understood what Jesus went through in the garden of Gethsemane. He is both an amazing singer and a very talented performer. Thank you for your reaction. Son of Pain is also on a whole other level.
Thank you so much for your reaction to Dan Vasc's performance of "Gethsemane". It is stunning and takes my breath away. It's my favorite of all of his performances - it touches my soul. If you want to hear more of Dan's operatic side, listen and react to his performance of "Nessun Dorma" - it's incredible.
Thank you for your genuine reaction to Dan's Geth-sem-an-nee. I saw the moment when you understood what you were watching and, knowing why, I cried. It was a beautiful moment. Thank you.
your reaction is perfectly understandable. i have watched numerous times, and numerous reactors, and still am mesmerized at this performance. thank you for your sincere reaction.
❤ Need a cigarette after listening/watching this one. Have seen numerous Renditions of this by different performers... but Dan's version is the best. He grabs you, pulls you in, makes you feel the emotions... big time... of Jesus that night In The Garden of Gethsemane... he was, after all, human. Had doubts, questions... The man brings me to tears every time. He is a genius at that. Thank you so much for your great reaction. ❤
Dan's Power and Passion will Always suck you into His Performance!❤❤❤

Just an incredible performance from Dan ! It literally takes your breath away! WOW indeed! I saw a video of John Legend doing this on the stage show and Dans version blows his out of the water!
Dan's immersion into the humanity of Jesus and the struggle of what's to come grabs your heart. When he hits his knees, the tears roll every time. Thank you for reaction - we're right there with you.
A very moving and powerful performance from Dan on this song. His vocal prowess is just amazing, he is able to sing from so many different genres of music and it’s always a great pleasure to watch and listen to his renditions. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this one and I look forward to seeing what your next choice will be.
So glad you reacted to Gethsemane. A very powerful performance. Dan’s vocals and performances are beyond phenomenal. I would love to hear your reaction to Music Of The night from the phantom of the Opera. Also Nessun Dorma to hear his operatic skill. Dan sings every genre you could want. There is always something for everyone. When Dan sings, he is telling a story with his vocals, facial expressions and performance, and he brings you into the song with him, making you a part of It. Love your reactions. Look forward to many more. Thank you for this heartfelt reaction.
@Diana.S.430 -- I agree. My personal favorite is "Music of the Night." Dan does it justice all the way through, but the way he "fades to black" at the end, and PERFECTLY holds that dissonant note to the very, very end...OH YEAH!!! 😀
Thank you so much for reacting to this. I went to see Jesus Christ Superstar a few months ago in Manchester, UK. The actual rock opera was great, but Dan more than does this justice. It's absolutely amazing. I really can't understand why it only has 275k views. The views should be in the millions. If I may suggest another one of Dans pieces, and if Gethsemane didn't give you a better appreciation of his amazing skill, this one surely will - Nessun Dorma from Puccini's opera Turandot. The most well known version is probably the one sung by Pavarotti.
There is one thing you can say about Dan, he always puts his heart and soul into his music! Thank you for your reaction it was heartfelt and honest! Have a Blessed day!❤✝️
Yes it is an extremely excellent portrayal of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane after the last supper. - Catholics refer to it as the agony in the garden or used to. I could see the shock when you realized what you were seeing and listening to. Dan gave a heartfelt and profound rendition of the song. Thank you for appreciating it. You always show your honest feelings- which we all appreciate. I’m just sorry that it made you sad. You had a similar reaction to Dan’s rendition of the national anthem. I have the same reaction each time I listen to this song. Thank you for taking the time to experience the many facets of Dan’s singing. ( In case no one has told you lately- thank you for service to our country.)
we still do call it the Agony in the Garden.. Dan portrays what I imagine the Mortal Jesus may have been going through, we shall never know. Dan nailed this performance to the mast for sure.
Thank you for your explanation. I am a Catholic and realize that this is what would be interpreted as the response of the “mortal” Jesus to what he is about to endure. A few reviewers state that the song is not biblically correct. I hear the song and am reminded of His obedience and suffering for me and the world. Details be damned. The lyrics and Dan’s performance are stunning and I am grateful for the reminder.
Great sincere reaction. Dan is indeed breathtaking. He is trained in opera. Check his Nessum Dorma - it is incredible. For more of Dan's theatrical skills, check his Phantam of the Opera.
This is a stage worthy performance. We told you, Dan has an absolutely beautiful opera voice. You should really check out his Phantom Of The Opera videos, they are just as amazing. Many thanks for your reaction to this one!
We should have warned you about the dramatic intensity of this performance. This comes from a rock opera that was on Broadway and a movie also. It has many joyous moments, but this scene is one of great pain as Jesus goes to the garden to pray for strength to face what was about to happen to him that very night. Dan performed this very close to the play's settings, but added even more pain and expression. He really delivered a riveting and vocally amazing performance. Any reactor who has witnessed this has been almost speechless after watching it. Your reaction was sincere because it touched you deeply, as it has done to all of us. Thank you.
I've seen one reaction video with a kind of negative reaction ... on religious grounds. He objected to the concept that Jesus may not have gone to his destiny with joy and willing submission. Oh-kaaay ...
Thank you for your reaction. I can understand that this song hit you hard. Dan brings it with all he has within him! The first time I saw this redention of Getsemane from Dan I had tears in my eyes and goosebumps all over my body. Jesus went to pray in the garden Getsemane the night before He was crucified for us. ❤
He is not only the greatest artist/singer on TH-cam and the world as we know it, but also a magnificent actor that manages to to reach into your heart and grab it as he does during this incredible performance.
With Dan Vasc you can feel how he brings all his quality and emotion to every song. Masterful, like the Queen cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody". He is absolutely amazing.
"Gethsemane" is a rock musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Would you expect a metal singer like Dan to deliver such a perfect performance? What a masterpiece from a master of his craft. I can understand why many fans love these performances. On the one hand you are amazed, excited, shocked, .....On the other hand you suffer with Dan as if he were experiencing it himself. So moved the first time that it took me a while to watch it again. Thank you for your reaction to this epic cover by Dan.
The differance between earlier recordings of this song which are great -and to Dan's version, is that everytime I listen to Dan it brings tears to my eyes
For future reference it is Geth (Like Beth) Sem ah Knee..I am a huge Superstar fan and have heard this song sung by most-even Kermit The Frog, and Takeshi Kaga, the Chairman of Iron Chef. This is by far and away the best combination of passion and technical skill I have ever heard.
Thanks for another reaction. A phenomenal cover by Dan, which shows his great vocal diversity and versatility. (from opera to metal) Suggestions: Opera: “Nessun Dorma” from Puccini's Turandot, or “Handel's Hallelujah” One Man Choir. Or metal: “Black Wind Fire And Steel” feat Luis Mariutti
I've seen this song performed by many talented performers including the movie when it first came out, and for me, Dan's version is second to none. I'm a seventy year old male and Dan's rendition can still bring me to tears. He has a stage presence that just grabs and pulls you into the emotion of Jesus's agony in the garden as he struggles with the reality of his human side with all it's emotions. As the story goes Jesus was fully God and fully human and had to contend with that reality. Please consider watching this again while not reacting so you can privately get the full emotional impact. It's so powerful! May I suggest you react to Dan's cover of "Nessun Dorma" to experience Dan's full operatic mode. Thanks for your heartfelt reaction!
I've seen different reactions to this. The emotions that are revealed on faces are intense. This one by Dan is one of his best in my opinion. I feel so many emotions everytime I see and hear his cover. He brings the human part of Jesus alive. It is hard to put into words what we feel. Thank you for reacting to Daniel's covers.
Great reaction. It was obvious when you realized what you were listening to. Thanks for being open & honest. Dan is amazing & mesmerizing in this portrayal scene from the Garden of Gethsemane.
Thank you for this reaction. Since you mentioned operatic voice. You absolutely need to react to Dan Vasc’s Nessun Dorma. No metal… OPERA!!! It is stunning
Thank you! Now you have been introduce to what I call "Broadway Dan." He could easily make a name for himself on Broadway, but I am pretty sure that is not what he wants. I was so happy to see this come up in my feed. I look forward to more Dan when you get around to it.
Dan's vocal range and ability to sing any type of music is truly amazing. Yes, he does sing Opera. I'd suggest checking out "Nessun Dorma" - GIACOMO PUCCINI'S TURANDOT cover, "Time to Say Goodbye" - Andrea Bocelli & Sara Brightman Cover, and "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera (My favorite of the songs he’s done from this musical.) His talent is a gift to all of us. Love your reaction!
Dan is the consummate performer. He doesn't just sing a song. He lives it, and pulls you into the meaning of the song with him. Thanks for reacting. Seems like maybe you could do with something a bit lighter/more fun next time. For that I would suggest Dan's cover of Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me." Dan's sense of humor shines in that one!
Yes, Pour Some Sugar on Me is Dan’s light side. No studio. Dan and his brother Davi went to their beach house on the ocean. Dan plays around while Davi does the camera work. This video has the most EPIC hair flip imaginable. Dan has a great sense of humor.
@@elaineboone8567 For sure! It's totally different from this, but when you watch it, you realize how VERY well Dan takes a song and makes it HIS. It is just pure fun, all the way through. 😀
To watch this it is the best that you know the movie Jesus Christ superstar.. He is doing this so enormous good‼️ I crimy always with this song how he is singing this.. His feelings..Pffff One of my favorites of Dan Vasc is Nessum Dorma ‼️
Thank you fir reacting to this exceptional performance by Dan. No other sing is going to be quite as emotionally painful as this song. Dan’s ability to tell a story and draw people is a great skill. It is normal to have no words after hearing this. For me, there us a physical pain in my chest and it takes quite a while before I can gather myself together and go back to normal life again. I truly appreciate your stunned reaction. Thank you.
Absolutely! He sings the verses in 4 different languages... French, German, Brazilian Portuguese (his native language) and English. (5 languages, if you count the chorus, which is in Latin) He chose those particular languages because, at the time, those were the top 4 countries that his subscribers were from. (from 4th place to 1st) It was released as his little Merry Christmas to his fans that year. It's a powerful and joyful piece!
Brilliant reaction, i think everyone who sees this performance always goes away the richer for it, very emotion whenever i watch it. He could grace any Broadway or West end stage with this and he would get a standing ovation. He is classically trained, watch nessum dorma, its truly stunning, he also does other stage performances like phantom of the opera, its beyond amazing.
That's how I felt, when I saw this video for the first time. Left me speachless. I think, Dan celebrates his performances of the songs with all of himself. He gives everything into it. Emotions, heart, soul, etc. He lives and loves music and gets all in every time he decides to do a song, he dives completely into it and enjoys what he is doing. That's what I feel watching and listening to his fantastic work.
Gethsemane is a garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem where Jesus and his disciples prayed the night before he was crucified. There Jesus asks God the Father why he has to die and spontaneously and surrenderingly accepts the sacrifice that the Father demands of him.
Dan has 250 +/- covers. I've not heard them all, but a lot of them, I am familiar with. Of those I've heard, this song is without a doubt, the most powerful and emotional song I've heard him sing! Dan is in a class by himself!
He is simply wonderful, isn't he? He rips our soul from our body, speaks to it and leaves it halfway, without it knowing how to return... His range, his vocal technique, his theatrical expressiveness... Daniel is a perfectionist and complete artist - he could be successful on any stage in the world, but he remains practically isolated in the garage of his house, with his instruments, his gym equipment and his video games. Thank you very much for your reaction. Hugs from Curitiba - Brazil 🇧🇷
Perfect reaction to this performance of Dan’s . Many reactors see this and have no words. That is what we consider the ultimate praise for a performance like this. This takes a physical toll, and it will take a while before we feel normal again. This is the most emotionally painful thing he has done.. What you just experienced is how well Dan can draw you in and make you feel what the character is experiencing. This is such an incredible performance. Thank you .
I just found your channel and reaction to Dan's amazing performance of this song that chills you to the bone. Dan is a I can do it all kind of singer and performer. His theatrical skills shine in this one and many more. New sub here !! P.S. Your reaction was spot on to so many peoples reaction, including my own. Touched me deep and left me speechless!
Your reaction to this song was so obviously genuine that it broke my heart. Dan doesn't allow spectators to his music, instead he draws you in and makes you feel what he's feeling. A very special talent. If you want a good laugh though, I recommend Attitude City. All the amazing talent Dan brings to everything, but with hilarious lyrics.
Perfect reaction. We all feel this way after our.first and every other experience of this song. So emotional, powerful, physically draining and painful. It incredibly good on every level.
"Geth-SEM-a-nee." Dan is definitely an opera singer...when he wants to be. 😀 I've always shied away from watching the play ever since it was released, because it really isn't scriptural, in more ways than one. I won't go into that any further. However, I have to agree that Dan does this part wonderfully. As with everything else he sings, he puts himself INTO the song ... or the other way around ... he puts the song into HIMSELF, and thus ... BECOMES the song ... both audibly and visually. It's what he does. Thank you for your reaction, and don't worry about your hair. It was nothing, compared to how Dan's was, right from the start!
Love your reactions! There are so many sides to Dan. I suggest also Go the Distance, Son of Pain, The Last Journey Home, Confessori Eagles Fly Free. Those 4 songs are pretty daen different from each other. And if course American Trilogy (tribute to his late father who had passed the week before he made the cover). And yes Nessum Dorma (his dad also loved opera)
Gethsemane is an act from the opera rock play Jesus Christ Superstar and in a play where is the microphone? lol you should have turned on the subtitles and you would understand the lyrics. tks
Not many styles of music Dan can't do. Yes he can do opera, as well as rock, metal , pop and classical . You think this is eye opening, wait until you hear his cover of Wuthering Heights, never thought I'd see a male singer pull it off.
I like Adam Lambert too but I don’t think I’ve heard him sing opera yet. Sorry. I can listen to Dan all day long. He’s so easy on the ears, heavy metal growls and all. Much more versatile.
It’s hard to understand why Dans version of this song doesn’t have millions of views. I think one reason is that people under 40 don’t know how to pronounce the title Properly. I’ve listened to quite a few reaction videos to this and they all got the pronunciation wrong…. How do we help it to go viral?
No other singer has ever impressed me so much as Dan Vasc! This performance is stage ready! Thank you for your great reaction! 😊

Thank you.
Awesome, authentic reaction to this incredibly powerful performance. ❤
So AWSOME!!!!!! This is now my favorite thus far!!!
Really enjoy your reactions!
He's unbelievable ! We all have had your reaction the first time hearing this. Just another side of the amazing Dan Vasc.
Dan is classically trained his opera level is off the charts he taught music for years check his opera out Nessun Dorma
Dan’s “Angels We Have Heard on High” is on another level.
This song was from the rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar. Dan is absolutely wonderful in this song.
You weren't ready for this, none of us were. Wow. Speechless
This is Dan s song❤😊nice reaction
❤
Perfect reaction. We all feel this way after our.first and every other experience of this song. So emotional, powerful, physically draining and painful. It incredibly good on every level.
You should do his cover of "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera. It'll blow you away!!
Dan is fantastic! Have you ever heard Gabriel Henrique? If you haven't heard, listen! I recommend Stand up!
You should also watch his performance of Music Of The Night from Phantom Of The Opera, truly epic ❤
Dan is classically trained and can do all genres of music
Geth-SEH-ma-nee
Edit: Checkout Burn Butcher Burn, Number of the Beast, I’ll Make a Man Out of You, Angels We Have Heard on High.
My favourite part of these reactions is exactly what happened to you... that realization of just how epic this cover is.
Gethsemane is an act from the opera rock play Jesus Christ Superstar and in a play where is the microphone? lol you should have turned on the subtitles and you would understand the lyrics. tks
This is musical theater as opposed to opera. BUT...he does sing opera as well....check out Nessun Dorma
Not many styles of music Dan can't do. Yes he can do opera, as well as rock, metal , pop and classical .
You think this is eye opening, wait until you hear his cover of Wuthering Heights, never thought I'd see a male singer pull it off.
He reminds me a little of Adam Lambert. Great range
I like Adam Lambert too but I don’t think I’ve heard him sing opera yet. Sorry. I can listen to Dan all day long. He’s so easy on the ears, heavy metal growls and all. Much more versatile.
Vulnerability 😢
Reaja ao gabriel henrique com a música HURT de Christina AGUILERA
could he not totally do broadway?
I met Heart of Steel by young Dan about depressionn.
It’s hard to understand why Dans version of this song doesn’t have millions of views. I think one reason is that people under 40 don’t know how to pronounce the title Properly. I’ve listened to quite a few reaction videos to this and they all got the pronunciation wrong…. How do we help it to go viral?
Gethsemane is the biblical garden. Pronounced Geth sem a knee
Sorry if you have reacted to any i just mentioned. I didnt look at your list before i posted....
No le llega a Ted!
