Susie Dent said it best “I wish I had the words to describe the exceptional man that was Sean Lock. But today I don’t, and I think he might have liked it that way.” He will be sorely missed
It's not that any of that isn't true but it just feels like it misses the Sean lock spirit. This is the man who called the kids of middlebrook primary school shit actors. When a comedian has a room full of comedians literally wetting themselves with laughter, you know you're dealing with a genius. Rest easy Sean. Thanks for the laughs.
That was my favorite Sean Lock comment ever, followed by Rectum of the Year in a close second. His reaction when Miles Jupp pulled out of picture of Sean as his mascot and said "This has been in the family for ages", was so genuine.
I’ve watch CiaB 20 times and still laugh every time. And then he went and beat Jon again. The Hilter adlib with Miles Jupp is right up there too. The seal club story, rectum of the year, telling the queen to ‘pay some tax love’, constant hassling of Jimmy about his tax issues, apparent disdain for the Countdown show, and just his constant stream or one liners and cleverness will be cherished for ever.
Found out through this video that Sean died, don’t think I’ve ever went from laughter to complete devastation so quick. As a Dutch lover of most British gameshows I can honestly say no one has made me laugh harder than Sean has, I’ve watched every clip of him (and others) countless of times and every single time he managed to make me laugh so loud, even though I knew exactly what was coming. Dear Sean you will be missed tremendously, and I feel a tiny bit better knowing that wherever you are now, that place will now be a lot funnier. :(
Right? I saw this on my youtube recs but I didnt read the caption. I thought it was just a "Best of" compilation and then I found out and now I'm so sad.

Woke up to see Carrot in a box trending. Thought to myself that’s odd. Then I saw the first tweet from Jon Richardson, I can’t believe it. I’m just an Aussie that watches eight out of ten cats does countdown nightly. Never knew Sean personally but the sadness today makes me feel like I did. My condolences to his wife and kids, if a man i never met could have such a profound effect on me, I can only imagine how the people that know him and love him must feel. RIP Mr Sean Lock.
When he took leave from Cats Does Countdown and returned with a diminished voice for a while, all signs pointed to something being very, very wrong inside. Lee Mack has written today that it was known that this day was coming. Stoic, selfless and brave, Sean was just as you'd expect him to be, and kept us laughing right up to the flood of tears.
I'd been worried about it for a while, but it's something you just kind of think "not today, though" and yet that day has come. For me it's no exaggeration when I say the world lost it's best comedian, in Sean.
I didn’t catch on to his weight loss and voice (I’m very oblivious) so finding out he was suffering from cancer was a huge shock to me. Knowing now he was dealing with that for who knows how long and still working hard to make us laugh is so heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time
@@DursunX The claim that he shaved his head (when it may be that he lost his hair) and Sean growing a beard (perhaps to cover increasing thinness) now both seem to have had ulterior motives. Hiding the effects of his illness in plain sight, perhaps.
Swear to God, I still can't fucking fathom this is real. I literally gasped when I read the news at work. Comedy legend, one of the best in his generation. He may be gone, but the joy he brought us will always last
I've never cried or been as devastated by a celebrity passing as I am now. Just found out by trying to look up if there is any new content about Sean. He was the most brilliant comedian. Needless to say I do not live in UK so the news travelled slowly to Northern Europe. RIP and my condolences to everybody whose lives he has touched over the years.
Normally i never comment on things but this really hit me. The amount of nights during college i binged sean lock while i studied. The amount of times after work feeling down putting 8 out of 10 cats on to pass the time and bring a smile. Really got me through some tough times. Thank you Sean you will be missed.
@@zayasva so basically he pulls out a can of beer labelled "Water" and proceeds to explain what it is. It's on this video if you need further insight to the bit 🙂
Living alone, grinding through school, eating dinner in absolute silence, I can't thank Sean enough for the amount of Joy his company brought me. I hope wherever you are Sean, hope you are as happy and as carefree as you were here!
@@pinkkam they recorded the Xmas special a few weeks ago. What happens afterwards is a mystery. I think it'll carry on, he wouldn't want the show to stop just cos he isn't there. Can see Jason manford or Lee mack taking his spot, manford is on the Xmas special.
Quite literally was the funniest man on earth if you ask me, Its a shame we wont hear any more from him, his old ones will always make me laugh, cancer is brutal.
Yes, that and seal clubbing but there were so many hilarious parts from Sean. You have to be really funny to make other comedians cry with laughter and he did that regularly.
A pity they cut out his second achievement, when he went seal clubbing. I think that's where Claudia started laughing, and the RotY only made it worse for her.
“If I could have my ashes spread anywhere I wanted, I’d have them spread in Piers Morgan’s eyes” I think we as a community of fans should have that request honoured. We’ll miss you Sean 🖤
I worked at JFK and he was one of my favorite encounters ever at the airport. Our meeting as he walked into the lounge: Me: "Oh, hi! How are you? I haven't seen you in ages! ... Oh.... Wait.... You're not who I thought you were - I thought I used to work with you! But! I do know who you are!!" So embarrassingly stupid. (Me with no filter, as usual!) But he was absolutely lovely (surprised a Yank knew him, I think!) and stayed with me chatting for 10 or 15 minutes. Lovely guy. Always enjoyed him on 8 Out of 10 Cats. Too young, so very sad.
2021 was a terrible year for comedy, we lost Trevor Moore, Sean Lock and Norm MacDonald. It was a horrible year. I was shocked when Moore died, and weeped when Sean died. When I heard norm died, I was devasted.
His passing hit me with a sadness that has lingered all day. In contrast, he has given years of good humoured quick witted comedy and I'm grateful for his existence. Sleep easy Sean and thank you for the laughter my friend.
Swede here. Sean was my all-time favourite comedian, he's made my chest hurt out of laughter more than any Swedish comedian has even come close to doing. I hope he knew just how many fans he had worldwide. Rest in Peace
@@arsevillian6816 I wish I was in Sweden, but knobby old farts voted to take that privilege away in 2016 - it's become crap in England these last 10 years, especially the last 5, getting crapper every day and if that weren't enough, 👁 👁 👁️ 👁️ 👁 👁 👄 👄 👄 now Sean's died. RIP and God bless Sean! Feel like joining you.
I've spent the last few days just finding videos of 8 out of 10 cats and countdown and have been loving every second Sean Lock was on screen. I had no idea he had passed, and knowing that makes me truly sad. I'll have to spend some time looking into his work now because he is a great comedian and seems like a great person the way people regard him in these panels. Wish I could have supported him in his life, but glad I stumbled upon his comedy.
Same situation I'm really sad that I'll never get to see his brilliant comedy in person and I'm really sad that such a great comedian is gone but I'm happy that we have access to his comedy still.
When I was at uni aged 19 just a few years ago, I was so close to ending my life. I was thinking of ways to do this, I had one of Sean’s best bits videos in the background on TH-cam. It gave me a sense of comfort. Suddenly I paused my brain from thinking and turned my attention to the video “What would you want your orbituary to say sean?” “I don’t care, I’d be dead” in the severe depressive state I was this made me laugh so much because he was joking about the very thing which I could have faced, death. And laughing at my own situation was a coping mechanism for me. But that line from Sean made me realise that if I was still able to laugh even at my lowest point, then life was worth carrying on for. Sean will never know but he saved my life that day and whenever I feel shit I will always watch his clips. I have never felt this sad and broken about any celebrities death before, but to me he was more than just that, he was a hero to me and if I could have just 1 minute with him to say thank you, because without Sean in this world I may not have lived to tell this story. Your memory will love on forever, thank you for the laughs. Comedy will never be the same, RIP to one of the greatest there will ever be 😢

American here who never knew of him until quarantine, when the algorithm started serving me up Cats Countdown. He genuinely made a tough time more bearable, which is about the highest calling there is.

That is the most Sean lock gag ever! You don't see it coming either and the way he executes it is hilarious, that's reminded me that I think that is my favourite gag he's done.
I'd always notice when Sean wasn't on a panel for a show, something was always lacking. Pretty sobering to think it'll always be missing now. May Piers Morgan's eyes ever be gritty.

We watch 8/10 every night as well in Australia. Sean has been a joy my husband and I share. Such a sad day in such dark days.
When he took leave from Cats Does Countdown and returned with a diminished voice for a while, all signs pointed to something being very, very wrong inside. Lee Mack has written today that it was known that this day was coming. Stoic, selfless and brave, Sean was just as you'd expect him to be, and kept us laughing right up to the flood of tears.
it was an odd occurrence... most of us feared his voice and weight loss was a bad sign. but he is a private man, and carried on making us laugh
I'd been worried about it for a while, but it's something you just kind of think "not today, though" and yet that day has come. For me it's no exaggeration when I say the world lost it's best comedian, in Sean.
A legend. Of the highest degree. Didn't even know he as ill. Will visit his grave.
He may be gone, but the joy he brought us will always last
Cancer is equal opportunity. You can hear it in his voice in the last clip. The vigor was leaving him.
Same , I had no idea he had Cancee
@@Dizz2K7 I thought that do , I had no idea he had cancer he didn’t tell anyone

Needless to say I do not live in UK so the news travelled slowly to Northern Europe. RIP and my condolences to everybody whose lives he has touched over the years.

The amount of times after work feeling down putting 8 out of 10 cats on to pass the time and bring a smile. Really got me through some tough times. Thank you Sean you will be missed.

Great story 😊

2021 was a terrible year for comedy, we lost Trevor Moore, Sean Lock and Norm MacDonald. It was a horrible year. I was shocked when Moore died, and weeped when Sean died. When I heard norm died, I was devasted.
His passing hit me with a sadness that has lingered all day. In contrast, he has given years of good humoured quick witted comedy and I'm grateful for his existence. Sleep easy Sean and thank you for the laughter my friend.

@@ericcheltenham7001 Your opinion isn't really wanted here mate.
When I was at uni aged 19 just a few years ago, I was so close to ending my life. I was thinking of ways to do this, I had one of Sean’s best bits videos in the background on TH-cam. It gave me a sense of comfort. Suddenly I paused my brain from thinking and turned my attention to the video “What would you want your orbituary to say sean?”
“I don’t care, I’d be dead” in the severe depressive state I was this made me laugh so much because he was joking about the very thing which I could have faced, death.
