Yoooo, we spent a LONG time making this new format of video so i really hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you thought of it and please do consider subscribing!
I could listen to your vlogs all day... Your thought process is so clear, so articulated... Honestly, I skipped through the chat at the beginning with your MTT friend/advisor, but from the rest of the video for example the drawing with the bubble fish and the other fish/sharks at the table was hilarious... And for someone who's basically made a living by taking other people's money, how do you stay so humble?
that’s super kind mate, really glad you liked the video and voiceover! and as for my character, I’m not sure! Have just always been lucky to have supportive/humble friends so it probably rubbed off on me!
Fantastic vlog bena loved watching this and hope to see more in the future! Was surprised u didn't explain going from 100k+ to 40k between the last two hands tho
so it was a good 3-4 hours after the last hands i had posted and truly it was simply due to blind increases more than anything. a few cbet's/3bets not getting through etc
As a low-mid stakes tournament reg: Your reshove with deuces actually seems super standard to me and is easily the best play imo, even more so given your player description!
reshove here is fine given the config/reads on Villain, but we really can just fold here, it's totally fine. Few months ago Jonathan Little was talking about how his crew cleaned up at some tournament series by just not taking the spots with 55 and below. When we are below 30bb it is just so hard to realize enough equity for it to be a worthwhile chipEV gain vs. ROR/stack exposure with such a vulnerable hand class. There are so many more opportunities at low stakes to catch players making big mistakes! I would probably just pass on that spot off 20 bigs unless I felt I was one of the weakest players at the table.
Nice vid man! A couple notes as an MTT player: -the 22 resteal is as standard as it gets (makes 0.15bb more than call at equilibrium, and live players do tend to not raise/call enough) -MTTs and cash are really much more different than you were told imo. While cash is a lot about being super good at that 100bb depth and mastering 3bet pots, MTTs will require a much more diverse skillset, you gonna play so many more SRPs with flats from any position and just a much looser preflop in general, cbet frequencies go up a lot in most spots, ICM is a relevant and incredibly complex factor, and in general you find yourself all the time in new situations due to one guy having 20bb at your left, other has 40, other has 10, and so on.
appreciate the feedback bro! yeah tbh richard told me so so much more stuff but for the sake of the video and attempting to reach a more casual audience, we cut all the actually valuable stuff and kept in the white magic bits looool. 100% agree with all you said too!
Nice vid Ben, from what I’ve learned studying both cash and tourneys is that ranges are much wider in tourneys and you’re allowed to cold call much more (although maybe not 85s like that one guy). For what it’s worth, I’m pretty sure you can jam 22 from the BB vs HJ open in chip EV so don’t worry about it too much
Awesome editing and Vlog. Got to ask - Given your frustrations with the online cash environment right now, is this the beginning of a move towards live tournaments or just a one off?
haha nah no chance mate :D even though cash games haven't been going amazingly, the lifestyle is still totally nutted! can't see myself moving to MTT's/live anytime soon haha
@@BenaBadBeatPoker that's why I do it. I want my bag directly above my seat row. I find people can sometimes be ridiculous when getting off an airplane so not having to potentially walk rows back is worth lining up early for me..
@@johannesgroe-scharmann2104 it's plus EV but that doesn't make it the best play. My winrate/ROI has gone up significantly since I started taking those spots less often. Players make too many mistakes in other spots; we can find better.
Your buddy screwed you by saying MTTs are 90% the same as Cash games. Deep stacked they are very similar, otherwise there are so many differences that affect your decisions (and you play deepstacked for such a small portion of the tournament, in some cases never). When you have an Ante instead of a Rake it changes your pre-flop ranges drastically. Then getting short stacked changes your ranges drastically. Then playing near the end of Late Registration changes your overall play a lot. Then ICM can lead to situations where you should be folding premium hands. Then you end up playing a game of all-in or fold.
totally true mate - we cut a lot from the call (actually a whole section on ICM) cus we wanted to keep the video more more of a casual audience. but you're 100% right ofc

This video has a very noticeable step up in quality. I do appreciate how you are honest about downswings and showing losses & mistakes.
appreciate the kind words mate and I’m glad you enjoyed it. definitely lit a fire that we should up our video game more often 🔥
Great video! The editing , Storytelling, Quality, everything is 10/10.

Really well done on this one Ben and editor, this will appeal to the casual audience much more than your current content, good to mix it up!
thank you! yeah that's the goal - more of this type of content to come hopefully. maybe like 1 video in every 8 or something would be great
This is a really well made vlog. Great job 👍. I really liked the animations and art. You guys did a really good job with it.
