great vid as always. i was wondering whats the ideal way to assess pulpal status prior to crowning. Occasionally pulps become necrotic following preparations requiring endodontics. Can this be avoided? This is a burden on patients when they pay high costs for restorations. Is elective endodontics with "questionable" pulps acceptable.

This a great question and worth getting into. But the short answer is that thermal testing should be done on all teeth prior to crowning. A pulpal and apical diagnosis is needed for all teeth. Prior to placing a crown. Cold testing would be the best way to go. And yes, prophylactic root canal therapy is needed when it makes sense. If the tooth has a good chance of success rather than a higher chance of procedural errors. Pulpal preservation is also a goal of endo. Therefore, the risk of future problem should hopefully be assessed in the most conservative way for the patient. I think I should make a video to share this question because it's an important one. Thank you for the question! : )
