Flawless world class rudimental technique!! One of the most imaginative, creative drummers ever, and the best groove on the planet.....guys who agree with me...Dave Weckl,Vinnie,Dennis Chambers,Chick Corea, and on and on and on....I rest my case!
Solos appeal to drummers. This is not the reason why he is so well respected. His musicality ,feel, groove, accuracy chart reading/writing and the precise sufficiency of his playing are what set him apart from others. There are newer fresher players out there now but it's never been wise to ask a drummer to rank or appraise another drummer. ask a composer , arranger, producer or bass player instead
@rafikmankarios Steve Gadd is a master of technique. Set drumming isn't split into schools of technique, but everyone can agree on an idea of what good technique is - and Gadd fits the bill. If you want speed or endurance, go look up some Nile or Lamb of God videos. Also, why apologize for your opinions?
Gadd is just soooo musical! Yeah, I know he's "predictable" and a some think he's a prisoner of drum rudiments (and expanded paradiddles), but his grooves are way hipper than the "precision" cats :-) I'll take Gadd and the gospel drummers over the "don't know what a rest is" drummers, anyday! lol!.
I really don't get all the hype about Gadd! Some good grooves, some good licks, but he's got absolutely no technique, speed, endurance, or even imagination. Aside from his eternal same licks, he's boring as hell to watch and listen to! Sorry! For inspiration try Buddy Rich, Chris Coleman, Tony Royster...

He is the King of the Poly-Rythm.YOU could probably learn something from him.
Joey is a great organist. But this was recorded in Stockholm. That means he flew. In a plane seat. ???

Steve's left hand is ailing him...he rarely played match grip..now i never see him play traditional...to many years of abuse.
