The only sad thing is how easily they dropped Trucy away for Athena in Dual Destinies so she didn't have her trilogy assistant screentime with Apollo like Maya did with Phoenix. Worse enough, they dropped Athena like if nothing to hammer Maya into Spirit of Justice.
I love Maya but she already had like 15 cases, she don't need half a game again. Leave the other girls to shine, dammit.
PD: Maybe it was for a few moments, but Franziska and Rayfa were assistants at some point with the "Any ideas?" and "What to do" dialogue and all.
I don't think Maya should have had less time. Maya had been gone for so long, and it was so wonderful to give her some of the game back when she hadn't gotten the chance in a long while. Athena and Trucy definitely should have gotten more time though.

Y'know, I really don't like how Gumshoe didn't come back in SoJ, while Ema was the game's "detective", despite the fact that she is now on forensics. Gumshoe, on the other hand, actually IS on Criminal Affairs, so it would make more sense to bring him back, and maybe give Ema a smaller role.
I really miss him, Edgeworth without gumshoe is just.... incomplete
Hell, they don't even need to give Ema a smaller role. You can still have her as an actual forensic scientist and Gumshoe as the detective both. It would also be really cool to see them interact and work together. They could do a lot of fun stuff with them.

investigative partner != assistant. An assistant is someone who is *primarly* an investigative partner (which btw. also applies for athena as she is more an investigative partner than an actual lawyer).

Kay faraday’s theme is an absolute banger
The picture transitions at 15:38, 23:48 and 25:38 moved me, especially 23:48 (I don't know why I love Ema so much). They're all grown up! ^^
To me, it's so sad how Athena really is just an assistant. She's supposed to be a main attorney as well, but with what little cases she gets, she just gets dropped off as an assistant. Obviously in order for Athena to step up from being an assistant, she pretty much needs the majority of the cases, or her own game. Which if there is going to be an Ace Attorney 7, hopefully it'll have Athena being focused on more than the others, but her getting her own game is unrealistic since we know with AJ: AA that any game without Phoenix on the title or cover doesn't sell as well. Regardless, Athena doesn't deserve to be an assistant in my mind, but she just is.
She was introduced at a bad Time and had to fight literally every other major character in the franchise for screentime and ultimately she Drew the short straw.
She's Also not That engaging of a character.
Maybe athena can solve the mystery of why iris and pheonix broke up?
So we have athena cases and young pheonix before the forging cases.
It would be nice to have a new case that has the same feel as the first game.
If athena is the main attorney to solving pheonixs long forgotten feelings and emotions, at the same time having cases that has the old days, back when phoenix only has pearls and maya then i think it would be a hit.

Ah yes, the assistant's reminiscence theme trademark, the ones that really punch you in the guts more than any other ones.
Assistants, not themes list:
1. Susato Mikotoba- she is literally perfect, a unique departure from being a "Maya clone," is always helpful without coming across as gimmicky, and I really love her relationship with Naruhodou.
2. Pearl Fey- I will protect this precious child with every fiber of my being.
3. Iris Warson
4. Rayfa Padma Khura'in- even if she's not listed here, she's best SoJ character for me, she had a really compelling arc throughout the game and was in general handled way better than Nahyuta.
5. Ema Skye- I honestly really enjoyed her role in RftA, as she's actively participating in it and isn't just there for the ride, and her personality in AJ made me like her even more.
6. Maya Fey- I've really gotten tired of how often she gets kidnapped and arrested (I would've just preferred that she didn't appear in SoJ at all) but she was always great throughout the trilogy and added a lot to Phoenix's growth.
7. Trucy Wright- I don't really like the magic panties gimmick (especially seeing as it was the only thing she did in DD) but other than that, great character.
8. Athena Cykes- I like her, but let's face it, she was never a necessary addition to the series to begin with, her backstory is too similar to Edgeworth's, and she really hasn't grown much as a lawyer so far.
9. Kay Faraday- again, I like her, but she kind of just feels thrown in there so Edgeworth can have an assistant, and other than I2-4, I just don't really think she's that interesting.

What's Athena doing here? Unless you count her as her own teenage assistant girl she doesn't really count, since she's a playable lawyer, rather than assistant, unless you put apollo here as well as her assistant.
While that is true, it still stands that Athena fills the same role that every other assistant had in previous games. Provide commentary and advice during investigations and trials.
she is primarly an assistant and secondarly a lawyer, so having her includes is as it should be.
moreover, Apollo only plays the role of an assistant for a single case.
But more importantly, I am almost 100% sure that Apollo is NOT female. xD
