Beautiful. I remember my parents loving to listen to Kate Smith sing this on the Ed Sullivan Show. Even she would say that Lilli Cooper has done a great rendition. Irving Berlin, of Jewish immigrants evading persecution in Europe, came to America, the land of opportunity. These lyrics, blessing America, thanking this country for its freedom is one we should all appreciate. Many of us born here, have little idea of how lucky we are. To them I ask, "Why do you think so many still try to enter the United States? Appreciate what we have here. Our society is not perfect; there is room for improvement, but heck, we're much luckier than most other people in the world." G-d Bless America, indeed!
