I believe other videos are sincerely produced to help. But they don't. This one is by far the best I have seen, clear, short, and to the point. None of the key steps and comments were left out. Now I know I can take care of my shifters brake cables.
I had problems with two different aspects of a 105 r7000 groupset and spent hours trying to get past them. I looked up videos, forums, and everywhere else but had no luck. Videos from this guy solved both problems and the bike is on the road. Awesome stuff!
Excellent video. Clear and concise. All the information and no fluff. This gave me confidence in installing a new gear shifter. Shimano website instructions were either unavailable or so well hidden that I could not find them.
Well done on the shimano 105 shifters. After my first ride I'll be checking out your station for advice on electric shifting. Seems like that will be the future, and its coming fast. Thanks.
I have been reinstalling and setting up this R7000 front derailleur today and it’s quite a fiddly and temperamental design! Even with everything aligned as carefully as possible it still seems very hard to find good high and low stop settings, particularly on the large chain ring. If you set it to just skim on the highest gear (smallest on the rear) you get noise on the lowest one or two. If you try and open up the gap a touch more to be sure it’s not rubbing on the highest, the noise extends to the lowest two or three lowest. It seems as if the cage is just not quite wide enough to accommodate the cross chaining on the 2x11 drive. Other problems: it can be hard to distinguish between noise from rubbing and noise from the chain against the ring due to cross chaining. Be careful with the chain guide height over the large ring. If you make it too small (say about 1mm) the chain rubs against the bottom of the cage when the largest gears front and rear are selected.
Could you do a video covering the installation of inline barrel adjusters? I love your ‘to the point’ style and all the other videos out there are full of waffle. Maybe a quick explanation of what they do/how they work and then how to install them? 🙏
@@FreeToCycle Great and thanks for the quick response. Your videos are excellent for giving the confidence to have a go yourself. Keep up the good work.
I’m wondering if I’m missing something, I’m trying to remove the existing cable, I’ve shifted it all down to the smallest cog, But I don’t see the end of the cable inside the lever yet, it offers some resistance, am I missing a step? Unscrewing something maybe? Or just force pull it?
Hi, my left shifter isnt the same as right when it comes to the recess hole that the gear cable sits. The right hand one is as you describe but the left doesn't have sufficient room for the cable end to seat. Should they be identical? Thanks
Do Shimano left shifters always work the front derailleur & right shifters always work the rd? I am setting up rx600 hydro shifters and i am not 100% sure...😚😚
@@FreeToCycle thanks mate... and if u have time i have one more question... will r8070 calipers work with grx st rx600 sti hydro levers with cable gear shifting? Dave Mac.
Just wanted to say thanks, this is so clear and straightforward, no faff, just good quality information.

Me as well. Excellent videos.
Thumbs up sir!! Concise, straight to the point! Thank you

Sweet as a nut. Thank you very much.
hi there my shifters dont include that 2:46 , would work correctly without it?
Shimano SP41 outer gear casing Y63Z27000
Do they sell optislick specific inner cable? I need to replace the fd inner cable for my 2021 Domane sl5 and looking for the correct part.
Yes they sell the optislick inner cables separately! Available online search for Shimano optislick inner cable.
@@FreeToCycle Thanks. I think this is the correct p/n Y60198100
That’s the one!
Would you happen to know the Shimano part numbers for those outer ferrules please

What’s the difference between the 10 speed and 2 x 10 speed Shimano 105 shifters?
What is the name of item at minute 2:45?
Shimano outer gear cable casing, the ferrule for the shifter comes with any Shimano road gear/brake cable kit.

working on an old road bike. cheers
Does anyone know if I need special set of cables or have a link?
Looks easy when you don't have old cables installed. I can't remove old cable from gear. It stucked some way. Don't know what to do to remove it.

will the 56 cm fit a 6'2" guy?

Would anyone happen to know if the Shimano 105 R7000 11 speed STI shifter set can be connected to the Magura MT 8 Carbon Disc Brakes?
Any relation to Sheldon?
