This is cool. On the right side where the silencer is - you have something (black colored) to protect the bag from heating up. Is this included with the Kriega system or its a separate product?
I really like your set up as you've tried to keep it as minimalistic as possible ! You show us that you don't need to spend thousands of dollars to make this bike "ready for adventure". You didn't find necessary to add a cush drive ? I'm reading both pros and cons about it
Depends on how hard you ride the bike. For adventure touring when not riding it hard I work on 1000 km, pushing to 1500 km if you have too. Racing work on every 10 hours.
@@wravenant I’ve got as low as 198km really hard riding with 13ltr. But got 280km for 13ltr on the same bike going real easy, but with 245lb rider and 25lb of gear with 14/45 gearing on forest service rds.
I looked at the video again James, there was an issue that year with tyres, and I could not find what I wanted, so that back tyre was a Dunlop Geo Max, because it was the only tyre in the size I wanted that I could find.
Love your set up, easy peasy
Glad you like it Ben. It really served me well, can do pretty much anything on it.
@@wravenant you video fell exactly at the right time when I needed to set up my malle moto 500
@@benleblanc3618 nice. What event are you doing?
@@wravenant doing the ride from Ensenada to Lapaz really the route for Baja 1000
@@benleblanc3618 awesome. Heading down to San Quentin right now
Cool bike. I use the Kriega system on my FE501S. Good stuff.
Thanks. I love the Kriega system.
Nice build
Thanks
Great thumbnail photo.
Thanks.
Hi Willem, can you tell me what mounting hooks you use that you have fixed the bottom straps of the OS base to?
HI, I hope you are well. I made those myself, but I have seen some for sale.
Let me check if I can find them
Thanks Willem, even a short post on how you made them would be great. I am reasonably handy and don't mind getting on the tools 👍
@@ride4adventure can you send me a pm on insta or fb with your email and will send you some details
Nice bike! what are those clips you used to attach the OS base lower strap to the frame?
Its clips I made to align the attachment better.
Willem, please I would like to know how you installed the 690 screen. I have one and would like to install on my 500 exc?
Just drilled holes in the normal numberplate plastic using screen to align holes and then bolted it on

Yes. Its the base of the system
Very nice man. I have the same Kriega bags for my 690 and they're awesome. Is the center rear bag 18L also and what specific windshield do you have?
I believe its a 690 windshield and the top bag is the same as the sides.
Great setup. What is the model of windscreen are you using?
I believe that was a 690 windscreen.
Hi there....What is your sporket ratio?
48/14 for dirt roads and high speeds
What seat cover is that? I need one! Lol
Its called and “Air Hawk” and works really well.

Nope, was happy with standard setup.
Nice kit on the 500! What year model is it? Thanks... ride safe !
Thanks, its the 2021.
hello what is the timing for changing oil please? how much km?
Depends on how hard you ride the bike.
For adventure touring when not riding it hard I work on 1000 km, pushing to 1500 km if you have too.

I got almost 300km range from a 13ltr tank on my 18 exc500. You should be pushing at least 350 with that tank if you’re easy on the throttle.
Think the best I ever had was 255km on the tank. I believe if you ride super conservative you will make 300km

Can anyone suggest a good gps for motorbikes, looking for something basic- can load maps etc. and yeah should be rugged.
Drop me a pm on insta ot fb with you email and will send some suggestions.
We have built something bike specific.
Buy an 8” Samsung tough tablet like the tab active 2 or 3. And run Drive Mode Dashboard
