Just fired up the restored West Bend 820 that came with the 1969 Rokon barn-find that I've spent the last two years bringing back from the dead. After a new piston, rings, bearings, etc, etc, and home made reed valves, she started on the third pull. Runs strong and smooth. Big thrill. Tomorrow she goes back in the frame. This literally was pulled out from under an old barn here in Vermont. Apparently, in 1973 it was run on pure gas and overheated, ruining the engine. It was then abandoned to sink in the dirt. I bought the bike in 2018 for $250. Looks like new now though.
@BennyGoBOOM Not at all, it drove great. I could have taken my hands off the steering wheel and it would have gone straight down the road. Thanks for watching!!!
Boosted Lexi, the one on the kart is a Noram with red springs that give it about a 5500 rpm lock up. The springs are a bit prone to breaking and changing them is a PITA. Max Torque makes a nice clutch and that's what I would recommend. If you go to the Vintage Karting Association web site they have lots of links to all sorts of parts vendors. Thanks for watching.
BuzzLOLOL the black box is the Tach, cylinder head temp and exhaust gas temp gauge, all in one. I pressed the recall button on it and the highest rpm came up, 11910 (you have to add a zero because it rounds to the closest 10 rpm above 10,000). The silver GPS strapped to the steering wheel is where I recalled the highest speed but you don't see it in the video. You can do the math and it confirms this rpm, gearing and tire produces this speed. Thanks for watching and your keen interest!

This was a great vid, where can one get an exhaust pipe like that for a west bend?
What clutch are you running? Just got a vintage cart with this motor and I am trying to get it up and running
