On 15.07.2023 it was time again: Bayreuth celebrates its Pride Parade, and this already for the second time. Despite the heat of up to 35-36 °C (95-97 °F), about 1600 interested people came to celebrate. From 2 pm people met at La-Spezia-Platz and a few minutes later the parade went through the city center with tractor and a lot of music. There was a lot of crowd on the sidelines and curious looks. The Queer Bayreuth order staff secured the procession, the police took care of roadblocks and more. Around 4 p.m., everyone gathered at the Ehrenhof, where several booths and a stage with music equipment were already waiting. Those who wanted could dance there or seek the shade. Until 20 o'clock there were various music and speech interludes, from 20 o'clock one could go to the after-show party from 18 years. The offer was well filled, but due to the heat many tended to go home early.
It remains important to create visibility for queer people. In 2023 and there before, hate speech and violent attacks on LGBTQ have increased significantly; right-wing to far-right forces want to restrict rights.
Party representatives were allowed to walk along pre-registered. Here it was the SPD, Greens, FDP, Volt, PARTEI and the Left. Also diverse was the procession, so you could see quite a few Pride flags and their subgroups.
